"This time the crime is worse than the cover-up and the punishment could rain down on us all."
That's Frank Rich's column in the New York Times for Sunday.

Better read this one, my fellow DUers. Don't be foolish enough to think that they will give up power because of you and me. We are close to the push.

Thanks again, Frank. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/13/opinion/13rich.html?ref=opinion

1. Read that. According to Rich, we're in as much danger of terrorism
FROM THE SAME PLACE as in July of 2001. All those servicemen who died in Iraq and Afghanistan, all the innocent civilians who died, all of the misery, all of the taxpayer money, all of the torture: and we have NOTHING to show for the last 7 years. It's sickening. Thanks, Dick and George, you were swell. Also, interesting to read that whistleblower James Comey (of Gonzo/Ashcroft-bedside fame) was afraid for his life and was convinced he was being WIRETAPPED!

2. I truly grieve for my country...
We are all Americans before we are Democrats or Republicans. It pains me to think of the people that our government has tortured in our names. My heart aches in thinking about what we have lost. I have tears in my eyes as I write this. I apologize...

4. No need to apologize for grieving...I am with you....
I am concerned that it's going to get much worse...we have 5 months of dealing with the criminals in the WH, I gotta feeling they will be fleeing the country along with Rove....I do have confidence that the world will hunt them down like they did to other war criminals were....they have committed war crimes...Cheney is the most dangerous of them all...

3. This is a good read....
This adminsitration has made America even more vulnerable, the economy is more than ailing, several banks have collapsed this year as a direct result of the deregulation by the Reagan Administration. Natural and man made disasters are hammering the country, we are in deep shit.

All of the Republicans (including Lieberwhore) must be held accountable for the shit that has occured. We may have to look at our Democratic representation and investigate why they were so ineffective over the last two years (were they blackmailed because of illegal wiretapping?)

We are in trouble and it seems that the MSM and the country is just now coming to this understanding. ....Sigh....

7. can I bring this up?
perhaps the reason our Democratic Congress was so ineffective...is because they did NOT HAVE the majority needed to accomplish anything...w/o 2/3rds majority...there isn't a thing they could do...they had control in name only...not in actual votes that would help them accomplish anything...we must stop blaming our Congress critters for what they had no control over..49/49 w/2 indies in Senate....231/203 in House...neither House had the required 2/3 majority of votes needed...wb

12. That is understood...but how do we explain Votes like Fisa?
Obama's vote didn't make or break that vote....it was the Other Democratic Senators that voted for it....

I acknowledge that we have a bare majority....but the Republicans still seem to be able to steer the ship even with a slim minority.

Why did Nancy take Impeachment off the table? She took the legs out of the Democratic members before they even had a chance.....

13. hmmmm
I think Obama intends to handle FISA...after the fact...he knew he couldn't change things with his vote...although I agree...getting tired of this fix it later shit...but honestly there was NO chance he was going to have an effect upon the vote..was there really any chance it would fail...???

yes, that's because we don't have enough votes...and they sure as hell won't vote with us...perhaps someone has been wire-tapping their phones and has the dirt on them too..I don't understand how they get away with what they do...I simply don't get it...but we could have just about a stalemate in regards to anything Congress has to vote on...I say let's stalemate everything...

Nancy KNEW there was NO WAY we were going to get the votes needed for impeachment...why spend the money and time on something that is not going to be successful?...exercise in futility is what it was...AND it made us look as though it was payback time for Bill...(I wouldn't have cared one bit if it did) but for those two reasons I believe she took it off the table...now, as more and more comes out about Iraq, and the situation with the DOJ...and a few other things...now...you might get some rep's to vote with you...before it would have been next to impossible...all my opinion only...and I know I could be wrong...just my impression....wb

Cheney and his henchmen must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Here, overseas, I don't care -- I just want to live long enough to see them go DOWN.

16. That was a good article
Made me think of just how tough it will be for the next admin to get us out of the whole and the mess bushco have created.

I know that when Obama becomes president it will be - in and of itself - a big step forward. But there is so very much damage to be undone. It's going to take a generation.

Hang in there all you young earnest idealist - the world needs you to keep working.
We need several consecutive dem administrations to get purchase on this monumental mess.

17. Read This? There's a New Yorker Cartoon to fret over!!!!
No, I read it--it's frightening....makes me wonder what level of "October Surprise" will be engineered to try to keep power...

But I'm not surprised that the descent into hell comes after essentially letting 9/11 happen....
