Not as something shitty to say, but for real.

He is not who he was in 2000. The difference is quite similar to the difference between Reagan in 1980 and Reagan in 1988. (For folks who remember the first debate in 1984, McCain seems about ready to take that long trip down the Pacific coastal highway.)

In light of changes in the psychological state of the electorate, which does change, I have to retract my earlier endorsement of a bit of CW. When McCain was nominated it looked like the Republicans had backed into their best option. But at this point, I think Romney would have a better shot at the presidency, even with the anti-mormonism in the pug base.

So maybe they didn't get as lucky as I'd thought. (That would be a welcome novelty... they are an incredibly lucky party.)

In any event, the McCain mental situation is so bad that Dems should be hoping he doesn't drop his pants and piss on reporters before formally accepting the nomination.

7. Similarly situated,
and I agree.

What does this say about our political system, that this can happen? Wes Clark (and his supporters) suffering MIGHTILY after he spoke the truth about mcC; imagine what would/will happen if/when someone in public view talks about this!!!!!

3. Isn't that the sort of candidat "they" want?
I'm not sure who "they" are (probably Kellog Brown & Root or Carlisle Group...) but eer sincen Nixon, "they" seem to annoint a republican who is a few fries short of a happy meal. I guess that sort is easier to handle. In W. Bush's case, I figure it was easy to drug him, since he was already so addled. They gave his dad Haldol. Reagan's brain was going south on him from the time he first got elected.... I really do think there's a "they" out there, and they are pretty creepy!

4. I think the campaign trail is too much for him...
I can only imagine what his state will be by November. He really does seem to be winding down.

8. He does appear to be
somewhat disoriented a lot of the time. And he can't remember what his positions are. Dead giveaway.

But still he's running neck and neck with the smartest guy in the room. Go figure.

12. I'm not sure if he's senile, but at his age I do know the campaign grind is killing him.
He'd be lucky to last a full term in office if he was elected, and I don't say that with a mean spirit (I'll save that for another day!)

I think he just simply can't keep sharp with the grueling schedule.

13. I'll say it again. Mcain will NOT be the GOP candidate come November.
Don't know how it will happen or when, but he will bow out or be out....
