Edited on Fri Jul-11-08 03:28 PM by jenmito
McCain may think he's able to "laugh off" Phil Gramm's remarks about America being a "nation of whiners" and saying we're in a "mental recession," but you know how powerful video is. (Rev. Wright's comments were known for several months but they didn't catch fire until video came out). McCain just said Gramm doesn't speak for him and joked he'd be a good embassador of Belarus. But the guy's his top economic adviser. He hasn't gotten rid of him. And now the MSM's been playing it pretty much all during the day. Here it is for anyone who wants to see it/spread it around:

7. Seriously, he is one ugly sucker
Inside and out.

Here's Molly Ivins view on old Phil:

http://www.motherjones.com/commentary/power_plays/2002/03/mean.html

Gramm both looks like a snapping turtle and has the personality of one. When he ran for president in 1996 and finished fifth in Iowa, all the profiles written of him included the line "Even his friends don't like him." Self-righteous and strident, Gramm demonized his opponents and used bitter, polarizing rhetoric. During a Senate debate over Social Security, a member pointed out that the proposal under consideration would hurt 80-year-old retirees. "Most people don't have the luxury of living to be 80 years old," Gramm scoffed, "so it's hard for me to feel sorry for them." Well, there is that.

On another occasion, Gramm ridiculed a newspaper photo of poor people who were forced to cut corners to put food on the table. "Did you see the picture?" Gramm asked a crowd. "Here are these people who are skimping to avoid hunger and they are all fat!... We're the only nation in the world where all our poor people are fat." During the fight over health care reform, Gramm said, "We have to blow up this train and the rails and the trestle and kill everyone on board." When an elderly widow in Corsicana told him that cutting Medicare would make it more difficult for her to remain independent, Gramm said, "You haven't thought about a new husband, have you?"

He appeared to be appalled, baffled and contemptuous of average Americans all at once.

Seems to me that the only working class Americans he comes across are the valets he tips in a mens room.

including Jack Cafferty.
I also sent it to many radio personalities like
Randi Rhodes, Ed Schultz, etc.
and the New York Times.

:sarcasm:

what a bunch of toadies those things at CNN are. It's getting embarrasing already how they are after Obama - they had a clip on yesterday of some racist yahoo quoting that the only change he sees a black man making is holding a tin cup - soething like that, and anlother clip of a woman saying she won't vote for O because he's a muslim.

now why would they put trash like this on the airwaves? you don't think they have an agenda in all this, huh? I hate those souless devils with a pasion - how can so many so called journalists all be so worthless?

I remember the first night CNN covered Wright-gate , Anderson said "You know...I'm not really sure why we're covering this...I don't really know if this is a big deal or anything, I don't know yet I guess" and the next night, of course he said "You know, the more I think about it, this is a HUGE deal, because it contradicts Barack Obama's fundamental message!" Ok, Anderson. I'm sure you got a memo from the network that you constantly ass kiss.
