The Obama campaign just responded to the WSJ story on the reported $30 million haul.

Spokesman Dan Pfeiffer:

"The Wall Street Journal report of our fundraising numbers is way off the mark. It appears that after 18 months, some in the press still haven’t realized that anyone who is talking about numbers doesn’t know what our numbers are."

13. Rapid response
is always the best.
Squash it flat and well before the news cycle starts spinning.

3. I know the reports are that his fundraising is down
but, are there reports that actually prove the WSJ wrong? I mean, not just a spokesman from the Obama campaign...

4. a spokesman from the Obama campaign...
sounds like a rather reliable source to me. ANd I hope that if they fired back this snarky response, it means that the actual numbers are quite a lot higher than $30 million. We shall see....

5. That's what I'm thinking
Why would the Obama team call attention to it if it's worse than the WSJ estimate? It sounds like they did better.

It's unfortunate that some people are HOPING his donations take a dive to 'send a message'. Way to turn a victory into a defeat.

:grr:

6. Yup I have no insight into the numbers but...
...any DUer hoping for the numbers to be bad should be looked at as anti-Democrat.

8. There's a straw man, for sure.
Show me ONE, JUST ONE, DUer who HOPES Obama's financial numbers to be bad. Just one. I'll wait. You find a link.

10. Probably the same people who said they wouldn't donate or volunteer because of FISA
No names, but you know you've seen it. Are you telling me the people that refuse to donate are hoping Obama's financial numbers will be great?

12. Not the same thing. Not at all.
I will not berate anyone for his/her personal decision about political contributions. It's UP TO THEM. But that's a far cry from assuming they hope Obama's numbers go down.

I'm still waiting.

14. I think it's a reasonable assumption that those who refuse to donate over FISA want him to do poorly
Edited on Fri Jul-11-08 01:34 PM by cbc5g
So they can feel good in knowing that they helped in that effort to hit him in the pocketbooks.

11. Yeah they'll prove them wrong when the official report comes out later this month
Everything else is speculation, yet the media is getting increasingly brazen about publishing speculation as facts.

What if the report was, "Obama beats his wife."

Are there any reports to actually prove that he doesn't beat his wife?
