Dayton Daily NewsDAYTON — Hundreds of supporters lined Wilkinson Street on Thursday, July 10, waiting to get their ticket to hear Sen. Barack Obama speak at today at the Stivers School for the Arts on East 5th Street.
Democrats and Republicans stood in line for tickets all day at Montgomery County Democratic headquarters on Wilkinson to secure their spot for themselves or others. Only two tickets were allowed per person. The event is scheduled to begin about 10 a.m.
Malcolm Keith, 46, of Dayton said his daughter Morgan, 14, really wants to see the Illinois senator and presumptive Democratic nominee for president.
"It's history in the making," he said.
George Gorneleh, 49, of Kettering has been a registered Republican since 1996 but stood in line because his son was interested. Gorneleh even donated money to Obama's campaign and is interested in his energy policy, among other issues.
"The war in Iraq is critically important," he said.
Others in line were more concerned with health care, such as Brandon Bush of Dayton, 28.
"I'm here to listen and show my support," he said. "I want to hear (about) his foreign policies, health care, and about what he's going to do in the future."...........
