This is the coolest thing. The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis is allowing people to design yard signs around the theme of what it means to actively participate in a democracy.

Starting July 1, the public will be invited to vote on the artist-created design submissions. The top 50 vote-getting designs will be announced August 1 and, subsequently, made available to order as a full-sized political yard sign for $20 including shipping.

The Walker is also going to print the signs and put them around the Twin Cities area during the GOP convention.

I figured that screen name wouldn't be a coincidence. And I did think yours was catchy, though I guess you had to see the movie.

41. Oops I guess you can't say anything "partisan"... they unapproved 3 of my signs...

The three that mention or picture Republicans. Nothing especially offensive about them. Oh well, not so cool anymore. They were not very clear about their goals -- all they said was "we value non-partisan participation" and didn't say anything about signs having to be non-partisan.

So they are weenies.
