Latest Times-Bloomberg Poll: Obama holds 12-point lead over McCain
link:

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-poll25-2008jun25,0,412890.story

"A Times/Bloomberg Poll says that in a two-man contest, 49% of respondents favor Barack Obama, while 37% support John McCain. With Ralph Nader and Bob Barr added to the mix, Obama holds 15-point edge. "

snip:"In a two-man race between the major party candidates, registered voters chose Obama over McCain by 49% to 37% in the national poll conducted last weekend.

On a four-man ballot including independent candidate Ralph Nader and Libertarian Bob Barr, voters chose Obama over McCain by an even larger margin, 48% to 33%.
"

snip:"Moreover, McCain suffers from a pronounced "enthusiasm gap," especially among the conservatives who usually give Republican candidates a reliable base of support. Among voters who describe themselves as conservative, only 58% say they will vote for McCain; 15% say they will vote for Obama, 14% say they will vote for someone else, and 13% say they are undecided.

By contrast, 79% of voters who describe themselves as liberal say they plan to vote for Obama.

Even among voters who say they do plan to vote for McCain, more than half say they are "not enthusiastic" about their chosen candidate; only 45% say they are enthusiastic. By contrast, 81% of Obama voters say they are enthusiastic, and almost half call themselves "very enthusiastic," a level of zeal that only 13% of McCain's supporters display."

2. Nasty indeed. They aren't gonna sit idly by and let Obama continue
to soar, without trying to bring him crashing back to earth. Keith played a clip of Laura Ingraham last nite, looking very disgusted as she compared Michelle Obama's favorability ratings to Cindy McCain's. They have gone after Michelle relentlessly, and the polling suggests that the American people favor Michelle 48 to 39. This can't be sitting well with the right.

16. this does make three with both Newsweek and Harris during the past week
http://www.sacbee.com/111/story/1029495.html

Two national polls out Friday have catapulted Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama into a double-digit lead over GOP rival John McCain.

A poll of 896 registered voters taken Wednesday and Thursday for Newsweek gave Obama a 51 percent to 36 percent lead. The margin of error was plus or minus four percentage points.

A Harris Poll of 2,327 adults surveyed online June 5-13 gave Obama a 44 percent to 33 percent edge. Because it was taken from people who agreed to participate, no margin of error was given.

8. People go by these daily polls and the daily polls are generally off by 5-10 points.
Remember during the primary the Gallup tracking poll had Obama tied with Clinton, yet their other poll, published by MSNBC, had Obama up 10+?

Exactly.

9. This is the 2nd poll to show Obama with a big lead
These tracking polls from Rasmussen and Gallup aren't telling the whole story it seems like.

14. I don't trust the LA Times polling.....
They had Bustamante beating Schwarzeneggar right before the election. A biased poll benefits no one.

15. this is consistent with both Newsweek and Harris -- two other polls during the past week

Harris and Newsweek:

http://www.sacbee.com/111/story/1029495.html

" Two national polls out Friday have catapulted Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama into a double-digit lead over GOP rival John McCain.

The results appear to reflect the "bounce" that observers have been anticipating since the Democrat clinched his party's nomination early this month.

The previous Newsweek poll, a May survey showing Obama and McCain tied at 46 percent, came while Obama and rival Hillary Rodham Clinton were competing for the nomination.

"The Times poll, published Wednesday, showed 56 percent of likely voters support recalling Davis. Schwarzenegger led the pack of potential replacements with the support of 40 percent of likely voters.

Democratic Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante trailed Schwarzenegger with 32 percent in the poll. GOP state Sen. Tom McClintock had 15 percent.
