Goddammit! MSNBC is pushing the "Muslim snub"
Obama can't fucking win, can he? One minute he's having to dispute he's Muslim (because that's bad according to the MSM) and the next he's snubbing the whole community.

1. yeah, this has been MSNBC's top story all day
Chuck Todd this morning said "Well, if he did go to a mosque, can you imagine how we would cover that? It would be like Nixon going to China!"

2. maybe the story..

..will finally prove to the ignorant that he's not muslim. Seriously, their overcoverage of the "story" could backfire on the conservatives.

4. that's what I said during Wright-gate
But a scary number of independents still don't connect the dots with the Wright situation and realize that Obama is not a Muslim. "He's a Muslim! And he went to an Anti-White, America hating church!"

5. Yeah, that assumption was giving certain segments of America way too much credit.
I've pretty much concluded that anyone who trots out the Muslim thing or Reverend Wright, or both, is a racist who is grasping for anything to disguise it.

I honestly have an iota of respect for the ones who come right out and say they're not voting for him because he's black.

9. lol
I feel the same way.

Though there is a lot of anti-muslim bigotry that has nothing to do with race. Check out this link:

Anyway, I'm thinking this story being pushed by the MSM actually helps Obama.

6. But you know those Muslims and
black people hate white 'Muricans anyhow, so what's the difference?

3. Unfortunately, this might help Obama among the 10% of Americans who think he's a secret Muslim.
Blech. I hate being disappointed by my country.

10. Everyone but Keith and Dan Abrams at MSNBC is in the tank for McCain
They totally skew their coverage to be pro-McCain. Chris Matthews, Norah O'Donall, Mika Brezinski and the late Tim Russert are all big McCain fans who do their best to minimize negative stories about McCain while floging those about Obama.

13. That's why I'm soooooo glad he opted out of the public financing
Having the MSM in his corner is worth at least $100 million in fundraising for McCombover. Obama needs to raise twice that much to effectively combat them.

Like someone said so aptly in another thread: The MSM wants Obama to be a publicly financed candidate who visits mosques. He's throwing a wrench in that and they don't like it one bit.

23. The Support of the MSM is Worth BILLIONS
Prime-time advertising time on TV costs us a million dollars a minute, and that is the only way our side gets on TV.

The Repiggies get all the airtime they want for free.

Think about it.

A million dollars a minute for us.

Free for them.

14. get used to it
The media will shill for McCain until November 4. Would Muslims really be so foolish as to vote for McClown or sit home, allowing him an easier path to the Presidency? I sure as hell would think not.

15. yep, but the MSM lets McCain get away with anything and everything as usual.
Edited on Tue Jun-24-08 03:42 PM by ErinBerin84
Tucker Carlson summed it up: "McCain ran an entire presidential campaign aimed primarily at journalists.... To a greater degree than any candidate in thirty years, McCain offered reporters the three things they want most: total access all the time, an endless stream of amusing quotes, and vast quantities of free booze."

Yet, the MSM lets McCain get away with changing positions on virtually everything that helped create the maverick illusion. That article from the Nation summed it up (the above Fucker Carlson quote is from the article too, it was posted a couple of times on DU but worth posting the link to again)

http://www.thenation.com/doc/20080707/alterman

"Let's take a moment to sum up: the anti-torture candidate supports torture. The pro-immigration candidate opposes immigration. The candidate who opposes tax cuts for the rich supports them. The pro-campaign finance reform candidate has a campaign that is run almost exclusively by lobbyists, and exploits loopholes in the law to skirt spending limits--even the laws the candidate wrote. The candidate who opposes "agents of intolerance" in the Republican Party embraces them. The candidate with the foreign policy experience frequently confuses Sunnis and Shiites and misreads Iranian influence in the region, but is proposing permanent war. The candidate who claims to be a fiscal conservative wants to bust the budget. The candidate who claims to take global warming seriously does not want to take any serious action to address it."

The McCain the press presents to us is a figment of their imaginations.

16. Doesn't seem to be hurting Obama in MI, with a heavy Muslim population, he's up 9
according to Rasmussen:

Coordinated attacks with the media? Nah, couldn't be.

Could it?

18. In political reality, the Obama campaign will let them say "Obama shuns muslims" all day.
It won't hurt him with anyone that knows better and it can only help dampen the moranic "He's a muslim, you know" meme.
