Quick note, I had temporary insanity and had to fight to defend Obama yesterday
Folks, don't think I like Obama because I don't. However, these freaking "Bush Born-Agains" were slamming Obama so I had to fight back. It started off simple enough because I was wearing a Scapecchi For Sheriff T-Shirt. Scapecchi is a Democrat running against the 3 time Republican Sheriff who is corrupt as the day is long. Following that discussion the conversation turned to Obama. Of course they said he was a muslim and not a christian and they wouldn't vote for a black man whom is a muslim. Well, that really pissed me off. So, I said whether you believe that or not, get use to it because he is going to be our next president. Well, him being muslim he will let the terrorists take over. I said, your fucking crazy. I said, I'm sure you like Bush and look at his approval rating at 20%. Even Clinton had a 68% approval when he left office. Then they went off on Clinton, a BIG mistake. I said, look at the economy, gas prices, the housing market, the Iraq occupation, all due to BUSH. They said Bush had nothing to do with the gas prices and if people were intelligent enough they wouldn't have taken a sub-prime housing mortgage. I said, so you agree with Bush loaning the banks and mortgage companies billions of dollars to bail them out and letting the average joe sink? I said, with his approval rating at 20%, you being part of that 20% then your saying 80% of America is ignorant? OK, I get where your coming from. Just a reminder, Obama will be the next president and GET USE TO IT. I couldn't get out of that business quick enough. However, I had a loss of insanity for about 30 minutes. I suppose I can't deal with IGNORANT Bush supporters. As you all know I'm a Clinton supporter and she SHOULD have been the nominee but I can't stand idly by and let people slam our Democratic candidate. Things they were saying just went all over me and I had to open my mouth and defend him. I thought I'd do a drive-by to let y'all know I am still a true to heart democrat when things get heated and the democrat side of me comes out. However, don't get use to it because I still support Hillary. It's hard to believe I was supporting Obama. :)

2. When you encounter the Twentypercenters, you cannot convince them to vote for Obama. HOWEVER...
... be sure to keep some literature on-hand to get them to join the Bob Barr for President campaign.

4. We had a big discussion about doing this sort of thing at a meeting the other night.
The two sides were: Smile and say something generally positive and get away from "the debaters" (the old "we're not out here to convince those who don't agree with us but simply to find those who do school of thought) and the other side is: since WE are the ones that are supposed to take the responsibilities for what happens on, we should be prepared with point-and-counter-point and try to persuade Republicans that there IS a better way.

I came down somewhere in the middle, depending upon your situation, you're either going to schmooze on by them or you're going to engage them in a reasonable discussion of policies and stuff, SO . . . where am I headed with all of this?

Congratulations! for being part of The Revolution in Personal Responsibility and I know for certain that THIS Revolution is MUCH more about YOU, what you do and HOW you do it, than it is about "them". Sometimes, when you "lose", you Win by freeing yourself from what everyone else is still bound to.

5. When selling just say america is at the mercy of war and oil the only way out is the Democrat party
Edited on Tue Jun-24-08 08:19 AM by barack the house
I think if we make it less about Obama and more about the party's it will be a more persuasive case to Republicans. THe truman quote works best " vote democrat live like a republican ". As democrats make the dollar worth something and the low value of the dollar can only make them charge more. Obama is a trigger word to the Republicans but they can see that Democrats have got it right far more often than their party has.

6. A unity story like this just warms the cockles of my heart.
Seriously, don't you love how our intra-family fight melts away when confronted with the 20% deadenders?

BTW, it would have been the same thing had Hillary gotten the nom.

11. I went camping with my husband and his co-workers. One of them was saying she was concerned about
Obama's background. I asked what she meant. "Isn't he a Muslim?" No, he's not. He's a Christian. Here's what blows my mind is SO THE FUCK WHAT if he WAS a Muslim. So long as he's not a religious extremest of ANY religion, I am fine. "Hello, your bigotry is showing", I felt like saying.
