A sign of the times: "Obama Bake Sale"

I live a block from an Amtrak train station. There's a neat, well traversed Hostel in the block. In summer, a gamut of languages are spoken on the street as folks walk downtown. German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese. Occasionally the odd East Coast dialect I recognize as my own. ;)

Went out for a stroll this evening and found a mess of blue and white balloons on telephone poles. Handwritten signs on cardboard: "Obama Bake Sale at the Hostel".

The hostel was hosting a bake sale for our candidate. $2 for a plate of homemade brownies. (A buck extra for the recipe. I paid it, they were killer.) Pecan sandies. Oatmeal cookies. The works...

Ya gotta love it. There *is* something going on this time around.

I recall baking cookies for that back in 2003.
