Wolf Blitzer is about to announce (and has already mentioned it twice) a new CNN/Gallup poll which shows one candidate has come out ahead of the other in the presidential race in Ohio. Wolfie is acting like he is about to cream his pants... wonder who he's talking about? Care to guess?

Likely voters only matter in small turnout primaries or low turnout blowout elections. This is the most electricity in a Presidential Election ever.

If registered voters give Kerry a 10 point lead, he'll get 3/4 of the undecideds, and the state of Ohio will be ours easy, if these polls are true and they hold.

If all this is true, including a 7 point lead in Florida, all Kerry has to do is not F**k up. There is no way Bush can win without carrying both Ohio and Florida. If he loses both, he's toast.

And isn't it true that the term "likely voters" refers to those who voted last time, so it's assumed they're "likely" to vote again this time - versus just plain ol' voters? When Michael Moore was on that Bill Maher HBO show three weeks or so ago, he pointed this out - that "likely voters" didn't paint an accurate picture. A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll of 761 registered Ohio voters, conducted between August 13-15, showed Kerry at 50 percent, followed by Bush at 41 percent and Independent candidate Ralph Nader at 5 percent.

With Nader not an option, Kerry had 52 percent support to Bush's 42 percent. The sampling error, in both cases, was +/- 4 percentage points.

Kerry's advantage dropped significantly when only likely voters, 628 in the survey, were considered. Forty-seven percent of respondents sided with the Democratic senator, 45 percent with Bush and 4 percent with Nader.
