Let Go Of The Primary Anger
I'm talking to both sides here in this post--yes, to the Obama supporters, and to the Hillary supporters as well.

Obama supporters, let go of the primary anger. It's not productive anymore. We are in the general election, folks. I live in Washington, D.C., and let me tell you, Hillary Clinton is working behind the scenes to get her people onboard with Barack Obama. She knows she's not going to be the Vice-President, but she IS determined to help wherever she can.

She's holding a conference call today with her donors, asking them to donate to Obama since some of them are still on the fence. She has been calling her delegates, asking them to support Obama as the nominee.

The reason why you haven't seen or heard her is because she ran for 18 MONTHS straight in a hard-fought primary contest. I think she deserves whatever time she gets off, but she'll be back in the Senate next week. Also, she's not trying to steal Obama's limelight as the nominee because he needs all the media attention on the fight between him and John McCain.

You know I was one of the harshest critics of Hillary's campaign during the primary. I've let go of that primary anger. I don't make snide remarks about her anymore. I've moved on to the general election, but some people clearly haven't.

And to the Hillary supporters, thank you for supporting Barack Obama. It's what Hillary wants you to do, and I thank you for listening to her. Now, to some of the other Hillary supporters, please be aware that Hillary is doing everything she can to support Obama, and no, she is not going to be the nominee. No, there isn't going to be an override at the convention in Denver.

Hillary Clinton is a Democrat. Whenever she says something, she means it. When she says she's a fighter, she IS a fighter. When she says she supports Obama, she SUPPORTS Obama. I thank her for doing so, and I look forward to her working in the Senate and to becoming one of the great lions of the Senate.

She and Obama both have become great icons as a result of this primary, and they will be interacting with each other on a constant basis. They once were a team of rivals, but they now are a team.

10. Is this the same Slinkerwink that accused me of being a troll
from "No Quarter" simply because I spoke my mind and stated flat out that I thought Patti Solis-Doyle was an Obama plant or MOLE in the Clinton Campaign?

Well, this is a nice change.....:-)

3. K&R also, and thanks for that little peek behind the scenes perspective
I read somewhere yesterday (now I wish I had saved it) that Bill Clinton was just at a party in Hollywood and was heard talking about the need to all get behind Obama now.

We go back a little ways here together slinkerwink and know how wound up we can all get in the candidates we believe in. I appreciate the efforts you are making here.

25. Just found it.
Turns out I first saw it on a DU post. Anyway, here is the original reporting. From a New York Daily News Hollywood Gossip Reporter as it turns out:

Side Dish: M.I.A.'s newest bit of bling
Monday, June 16th 2008, 4:00 AM

Bill Clinton came to Hollywood for Thursday's American Film Institute gala to pay tribute to Warren Beatty, but the former President didn't miss the chance to play peacemaker among warring Democrats. While Clinton commiserated with Hillary-backers like Jack Nicholson, he also reached out to Obama-backers, like vicious Clinton-basher David Geffen. Said WJC to Beatty: "We all have to get behind Barack now."

5. From one who was mostly neutral in the primaries (I had to vote for one of them, so I did). AMEN.
I stayed out of GD/P v. 1 but came back with the express intention of kicking McSame's wretched ass at last (he's been my Senator for my entire voting life).

Can we get on with it, please?

Keeping that anger for some other people isn't productive, and only holds you back.

19. We'll agree to disagree.
I will never forget what was said and done in the primary season. I will never forget who the true enemy is. People who think I am a second-class citizen by virtue of my sex do not deserve my forgiveness. And no, I'm not talking about Obama. He gets my vote, of course.

22. I understand that if your anger is at the media.
We do have to fight media consolidation in this country. The more consolidated the media is, the more shut out the unique voices are in this country.

It's seemed like mostly sweetness and light here the past several days. I hadn't noticed any primary anger lately, at least nothing at all like the old GD-Prime days.

31. Everyone said the first step in winning over Hillary supporters would be hiring some of her staff.

Yesterday, he did. And for some weird reason a lot of Hillary supporters have decided that is an insult to Hillary.

You just can't please some people.

35. I agree with you.
And I want to say that I am here posting as a democrat who is supporting the democratic nominee.

And as I am posting, I am attacked relentlessly by others who are suggesting that my support is not as valid as theirs.

There are a few Obama supporters who have not gotten over the primary. They are following me and attacking every post.

If I do not tow the DU line (even if it is childish) then I should be banned, according to many DUers who are attacking me.

DU is a progressive board where a variety of opinions and ideas are to be discussed. I am attacked because I don't believe that

1. spouses of candidates should be attacked
2. Cable news is biased
3. no sexism exists in the questioning of spouses about cookie recipes while the men are talking politics

There are many Obama supporters on DU who have to get over the primaries.

38. Obama needs someone who
isn't a part of the D.C. culture, and to boost his foreign policy credentials, which may be Wesley Clark.

Hillary is very much a part of Washington, D.C., and even though the Obama campaign is vetting her along with other potential VP candidates, she knows that she would be a greater asset to Obama in the Senate on the healthcare plan.

That's why she specifically mentioned her healthcare plan in her concession speech, and Obama in mentioning Clinton working with him on the healthcare issue in his nomination speech. They will be working together on that.

Policies are always amended. The proposal as stated never remains the same, and once it gets through Congress, it will be amended in some form.

43. Since when was all the insane anger ever productive?
Do you realize that you admitted that the anger Obama supporters held toward Hillary was productive at the time it was going on? To say the anger in the primaries is not productive any longer say's it all .

Do you really feel that now since the talk is Hillary is supporting Obama is now the push talking point that many Hillary supporters who used to be on this forum were driven away by the Hillary bashers and won't read this OP? If they did it would be obvious to them that these are talking points a bit too late in the game.

This is a prime example of how this country got bush and how we got in this mess to begin with , TALKING POINTS repeated enough times until people actually question their own better judgement and fall into the wrong frame of mind. This is how the people , 70% of them fell for this lie of a war.

Not one damn thing has changed in the political arena. It's all who has the most money and the ones who are with the talking points and repetition.
