Keyes wags finger at opposition
By Eric Krol Daily Herald Political Writer
Posted 8/19/2004
Republican U.S. Senate nominee Alan Keyes used his first major public speech Wednesday to say gay people are sinners, those who would allow women to have abortions in cases of rape or incest lack integrity and his opponent is like a socialist for supporting big government.
(snip)

Keyes outlined the reasoning behind his opposition to abortion, even in cases of rape and incest.

"The problem I have is that I'm a slave to logic," Keyes said. "(What you're saying is) you are willing to kill a child for its parents' sins, and that is as wrong as anything can get. I can imagine nothing more extremist in the way of protecting justice than that position. These people don't seem to operate by logic. They don't seem to operate by integrity."

Keyes' 34-minute speech started with a lengthy explanation of why he believes God is responsible for the nation's economic success, arguing that hard work and honesty are virtues that come from God. He segued into a slam against Obama on job creation, wondering when people are "going to stop being taken in" by politicians who talk about jobs but take votes to discourage business growth. Keyes went on to compare those who favor big government to communists and socialists whose regimes crumbled.

Whew! That guy sure knows how to dig a hole, doesn't he? And that comment about God being responsible for economic success...does that go for guys like Ken Lay? Someone please show me the bible passage where Jesus says "follow me and you are gonna get filthy, stinkin' rich, and you won't have to pay taxes either!"

1. He's a Bush basher, then.
"... those who would allow women to have abortions in cases of rape or incest lack integrity and his opponent is like a socialist for supporting big government."

Doesn't George W. Bush support abortion in cases of rape or incest? And doesn't George W. Bush oversee the biggest federal government in American history?

Shame on Keyes for bashing the President!!! :P

2. “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle
than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God” (Matthew 19:24) is what JC actually had to say on the subject.

3. Slave to logic?
The problem I have is being disingenuous with words: "you are willing to kill a child for its parents' sins". Cells that constitute the potential for life are not the same thing as an actualized (birthed) young human being (child).

4. Job Growth?

You mean like what happened under Commie Bill Clinton?

These free-market, anti-socialistic platitudes are about 6 years past their shelf life.
