Was the capture of Saddam Hussein worth 1000 American lives ?
Even though it's the centerpiece of George Bush's election campaign, I cannot believe the majority would answer in the affirmative. Should this be a question Democrats should pose in this election? Was it worth it, knowing what we know now? Iraq had nothing that George Bush said he had. In fact, it was Iran that assisted the terrorists, not Iraq. But we have almost 1000 dead in Iraq and George Bush has the old man Saddam in a prison and he has his pistol in a little room off the Oval Office that he shows off on special occasions..

2. "Not worth the bones of a single Pomeranian grenadier."
-- Bismarck on the Balkans. Applies equally.

5. and THOUSANDS more injured but let me say something
about one of the yahoos that live in my city--he said "we ONLY Have a little over 900 dead-that is not that many when you think about it"

can you believe this???

and to answer your question...NO its not worth it to me...the guy was not a threat to us...and we had a lot of time we didn't have to rush our troops over there for a meaningless war..that seems to have no end in sight.

7. Definitely not, if for no other reason..........
than the fact that the invasion and occupation of Iraq has given terrorist groups a huge boost with regards to recruitment. Now more young people in the Middle East will grow up hating America. How many more wounds will we inflict on ourselves with short sighted foreign policy? Bin Laden and other key terrorist figureheads must love the Bush administration. Their jobs are to inspire and recruit disenfranchised people, most of them young. The administration is doing that for them! We are much less "safe" here for our "efforts" in Iraq.

8. It was not worth the lives
Operation Iraqi Freedom was not worth the lives that have been lost. I find it sad that we don't see the facts about this war on the news. You don't see the fact that we are losing American Soliders at a rate of almost 2 a day. I am outraged that this coward has the balls to speak about being a war President when he himself was too afraid to serve.

9. And thousands of Iraqi lives.
And thousands of Americans and tens of thousands of Iraqis wounded, in many cases permanently mutilated or disabled.

And global Islamic terrorism energized.

And our allies alienated.

And U.S. national prestige in the toilet.

And the likely successor government (once we pull out, which eventually we have to) being either a theocracy like Iran, an anarchic mess/terrorist haven like Afghanistan, or Saddam II.

Nope, not worth it.
