Obama's the greatest POTUS candidate since Reagan.
This according to my conservative father whom I dutifully called on Father's Day. He has already changed his party registration. It should also be noted that he has occasionally expressed racist leanings.

All the Republicans I know are older ones and EVERY ONE is going Obama.

7. Maybe candidate, but......
....Clinton has by far been the best president of the last fifty years. The numbers don't lie, and his are fantastic, If Obama can achieve as much, he will be a great POTUS as well!

8. Lot of food for thought there.

The first thought is "every vote counts."

13. Ignore his policies/positions... he won re-election by winning 49 states
That's impressive for a candidate, wouldn't you say?

15. The Republicans do a brilliant job grooming lackluster candidates for higher office...
The fact that Rove was able to transform Bush into a cowboy when he really was an elitist, snobbist brat who grew up in CT says a lot. I wish the Dems knew how to make their candidates more folksy. I don't know how we got turned into the elitists when it is the Repugs who want to make the rich wealthier. How did American buy into the Manchurian Candidate?

Reagan was able to successfully play to American fears, whether it was subtle undertones of racism or ignoring the plight of the disadvantaged and getting us to believe that nothing was wrong. We bought into it hook, line and sinker and Dems continue to lose elections because they haven't perfected the use of imagery and language.

12. We'll take all those votes. If we can make red states turn
bluer, the whole country benefits.

Good for your dad.
