Obamaroo: Days of love, peace, music
Willie Nelson, Chris Rock and others have made their views known on stage.

The Swamp

by Mark Silva

Comes word on this sunny Father's Day, from a child on the road, that the annual music and arts festival which has convened in a 700-acre pasture at Manchester, Tenn., since 2001 and is known as Bonnaroo is sporting a lot of makeshift signs this year:

"Obama-roo."

Willie Nelson is only one of the performers on the stage at Bonnaroo this year who have made their displeasure with the war in Iraq known.

Chris Rock made his own sentiments about President Bush known as well, with a joke from the stage that we can report is a far cry from politically correct.

"I don't think there are too many McCain supporters here,'' that grown child reports.

If a lot of these kids carry that fervor home with them, this could become known as the Summer of Change.

At least that's the way the ones who printed the Obamaroo banners would have it.

5. I met Chris Rock and his wife and his two little teeny weeny daughters
at the unfortunate event of one of my close friend's passing.

My life-long friend was the aunt of Chris' wife, Malaak.

We spent two days together, during the funeral proceedings at my church and a opulent wake (which Chris Rock paid for) and a post death celebration the day after.

her closest family and friends celebrated her birthday at a family member's home. It was a family setting, and some of us sat around the family room watching television, including Chris.

He is actually funnier on stage than he is in private....although it was a bit of a somber occasion. But we did try to make the celebrations of her life as festive as possible under the circumstances. Still, he's more reserved than one would imagine.

6. I think I can sense that in him.
I know many comedians tended towards shyness when young.
