I want to go to N.Y. to protest, but refuse to be shunted inside some fascist "free speech zone".

As a Jew, it is highly offensive to me, and should be to others, that Bloomberg (a Jew no less!) and his gang of Republican fascists, want to round us up and put us behind fences! Isn't this what the fascists of Germany did to many of our families?

NEVER AGAIN!

I urge all Jews to write Bloomberg, and tell him how offensive you find his behavior, decisions, and methods, and further, let him know you will do all you can to see he is removed from office if he does not change his stance.

NEVER AGAIN!

Anyway, it's a 2500+ mile drive for me to be in N.Y. (and, I am disabled, so it's not easy in the first place), but damned if I'll go and be subjected to a fascist sponsored roundup! I hope the lawsuit targeting opening up Central Park succeeds, so I can attend, and be able to utilize my Constitutional rights!

1. while I find the 'free speech zones'
offensive and patently unconstitutional I am not sure that being a Jew should make you any more offended than just being an american who SHOULD have the right to speak out whenever and wherever you please. I don't think judaism or the lack thereof has anything to do with this...and I think it is quite a stretch to say this is similar to what Nazi's did to the Jewish people...

2. You are right of course, that being a Jew makes no difference
with respect to Constitutional rights, but, I disagree with you when you say "it is quite a stretch", to equate being herded into cages in N.Y., would be that much different than what occurred in Nazi Germany.

The crimes (against Jews, and others) in Germany, and elsewhere, all started with people being rounded up and segregated. Combined with what the FBI is doing (investigating and intimidating protesters), which is much like what the SS did in the beginning, it's all a little to reminiscent for my tastes.

3. while i agree that this sort of thing happened in Nazi germany
it happened for totally different reasons and to totally different ends. It does 'suck-ass' that these things exist, but people are being herded into them not based on their religious affiliation (or even party affiliation...recall the Dem convention where these were set up as well) but rather on the fact that they wish to say something against those who were having their meetings there. Also, in Nazi Germany, once you were herded into a cage, you were not allowed to depart afterward and were likely to be killed. That is simply not happening here.

Please don't think that I approve of these things in the least. I think they are despicable...but they are VASTLY different from what happened in Germany. The segregation there was permanent...and deadly.
