And although he thought pursuing the whole Lewinsky scandal was a waste of time he supported the Impeachment of Clinton because it was legally correct once Clinton lied to the grand jury. This would make him immune to many partisan attacks. http://jonathanturley.org/

Imagine what he could do to secure the constitution and root out the * era corruption.

Turley describes himself as an 'Academic with socially liberal agenda.'
http://blogs.usatoday.com/oped/2007/10/a-liberals-lame.html

He was right on Alito

He is right on the Military Commissions Act.

Sure I would prefer Noam Chomsky but he is 80 and this has to be a practical choice doesn't it? Who do you think is the antimatter version of Dick Cheney?

7. Well that was a matter of debate, and I agree it wasnt proven to be a lie.

11. He Made False And Misleading Statements In The Deposition

In the grand jury testimony he refused to answer certain questions... I don't see where he lied...

15. I Believe in the Final Resolution
released shortly after Clinton left office, it turned out that he had said that he was never alone in the room with Lewinsky (perhaps with certain qualifiers). That was the only confirmed lie. Strangely enough, it was not even incriminating and therefore completely unecessary.

17. In The Deposition Or Grand Jury Testimony
They really got into the weeds... Prior to his grand jury testimony he admitterd to a "improper relationship"... One would presumably be alone with his partner during such a relationship...

18. That is a Good Point
I didn't follow the details closely enough to know when these different things were said. But I do remember NPR reporting that that "alone in the room" statement was the only verifiable falsehood that ended up in the final report.

20. I Vaguely Remember That Part Of The Testimony
The White House is not like my house or your house...Technically, one can never be alone in the White House...There is always somebody else there...

2. I think Mr. Rogers is the antimatter version of Dick Cheney.

I'm not sure he would have made a good VP, though.

3. How about George Carlin?
He's got almost as much chance getting on the Democratic ticket as Turley or Chomsky. ;-)

6. For what, VP?
I think that'd be nuts. The last thing Obama needs is an intellectual that can be tagged as an elitist.

Now, as a SCOTUS justice, Turley makes a lot more sense.

12. I like the concept of an AG as a constitutional lawyer but wouldn't a prosecutor be better?

23. Maybe, but
the AG has a staff of thousands that practice every aspect of the law. The head guy imo should be someone that knows the constitution and can guid his staff from within a constitutional framework.

22. I'd like to see Turly on the Supreme Court
It would be refreshing to fill the court with people who can actually read the Constitution and thus drown out the Right Wing "let's make this a facist state" crowd!
