NPR SUCKS...
Edited on Thu Aug-19-04 07:28 AM by Triana
...I just heard some airhead spend 15 minutes GUSHING over bu$hit and his campaign speeches. She literally tweeted how bu$h had so many DOMESTIC promises on healthcare, jobs, the economy, etc. WHAT has bu$hit done thus far on those issues (besides make them WORSE?)

Then, NPR proceeded to play this segment of this IDIOT Republican saying "duhh, I jes cain't git that pictshure of Kerry and Jane Fonda outta my mind....so'rr I cain't vote fer Kerry". Then, NPR proceeded to criticize Kerry's campaign speeches, his plan for troop deployments, and on Iraq, etc. etc.

FIRST of all, that goddamned picture was Photoshopped and has ALREADY BEEN DEBUNKED. WTF is the matter with these people?

SECONDLY, the contrast between the airhead woman GUSHING over bu$hit and their allowance of a comment about a DEBUNKED, Photoshopped picture, and their consistent criticism of Kerry's policies was SO STARK, it was apalling. They CLEARLY sought to PLAY UP bu$hit's domestic agenda (where KERRY is strongest), whilst RUNNING DOWN Kerry's foreign policy (where Kerry seems weaker). I mean their tactics were SOOO utterly transparent, it was pathetic.

WHAT am I gonna do about that?

1. NPR is having a fund drive right now (thankfully NOT on the air). I was going to send them $$

NOW - I'M NOT SENDING THEM A FRIGGIN DIME. They can ki$$ my Kerry-loving a$$.

2. I'm going to write them an e-mail TELLING THEM so.

3. NPR & PBS have gone over to the dark side. A recent PEW, (I believe)
study showed that 80% of their guests are Right wing nuts. I was a loyal contributor, but the Tucker Carlson show sent me over the edge. Wrote and told them, no more $ for you or NPR. If I wanted to listen to and watch Faux, I would. Write them an actual paper letter and let them know why you no longer contribute.

12. I believe that it was a deal
to preserve funding.

I'd rather listen to Fauz - at least there's no pretense. That frigging Juan Williams must be fellating Clarence Thomaas or something because he's just become ridiculous.

14. I so hate Juan Williams. Every time they go to him for "commentary"
I either have to change the channel or I start yelling at the radio. (Must Keep Blood Pressure down, Think happy thoughts.)

8. Send the money
to MoveOn.org or the DNC instead.

NPR sucks more and more all the time. Their corporate sponsors are probably increasingly dictating programming.

9. NPR has been compromised...
for a while now. The fact that WALMART is one of their major sponsors SHOULD be a clue !! I believe that the same thing that has happened to Pacifica is happening to NPR.

19. LAST time I went into a Wal-Mart....
...some employee was asking to go to lunch. Her supervisor told her she couldn't because she hadn't been there 4 hours yet. She told her sup that she had gotten to work 30 minutes early and asked if that didn't count. Answer was NO, it doesn't - get back to work and stop asking.

Radio Marti, and all those other little radio propaganda ops we have all over the world.

I can't stand NPR. It's Neoconservative Porn for Republicans.

13. They do suck.
Trying to fair and balanced is one thing but when I hear them repeating Bush lies I just turn them off. I guess in their defense it's hard to be fair and balanced and present a right wing view without being a hypocritical lier. That is after all a true reflection of the right. Kind of a catch 22 situation.

15. I gave up on NPR around the 2000 election's aftermath
My disgust had been growing for sometime (I used to be a very loyal supporter of NPR), but their coverage of the recount (like most mainstream coverage) just turned me off, so I turned them off.

Now I'm Pacifica (and sometimes AAR) all the way.

16. Fox Williams repeated that Jane Fonda/John Kerry RW talking point
He selected a quote from some drawling veteran about "that picture with Jane Fonda and John Kerry". It was a crowd shot where both of them were in it, a few rows apart. Big deal. But to some listeners, you would think Fonda and Kerry were appearing together somewhere.

NPR should use editors to get this misleading material out of their stories.

My public radio contributions now go to Salon.com, DU, and to candidates.

21. My letter!
Subject: Juan Williams repeated that Jane Fonda/John Kerry Right-Wing talking point Thursday morning

Dear Morning Edition,

In his reporting, Mr. Williams selected a quote from a laconic veteran about "that picture with Jane Fonda and John Kerry". I know the picture that he was referring to. It was a crowd shot with both of them seated many rows apart. Big deal. However, some listeners would get the impression that Fonda and Kerry were appearing together somewhere and were associated.

NPR should use editors to get this undeniably misleading material out of their stories. By repeating this misleading message, this misleading message will be absorbed by people and become to be believed although it is blatantly false.

Your friend and loyal listener,

Karl Trotsky Marx Ullanov

24. NPR actually mentioned this today in "letters"
First, they read a letter from a man who wrote in about a "photoshopped" image with Fonda and Kerry together. Then they mentioned that there was a crowd shot photo with both of them together.

17. Nat'l Petroleum Radio now sounds like a CIA organ. echh.
I was recently reminded of the CIA's Operation Mockingbird which co-opted all the major media outlets and hundreds of journalists to spread Cold War propaganda.

I hear a mockingbird when I hear NPR news pro-neocon spin.

20. Totally agree
I have become more and more disappointed by NPR as the campaign goes on. They still have some decent folks and programs but mostly they sound like every other big "news" org - just repeating whatever dumya says and never suggesting it's all frickin' lies. When is AAR coming to Boston!?!?

Edited on Thu Aug-19-04 03:57 PM by NervousRex
but during Monica it started to turn sour. Cokie-Monster Roberts made me nauseous one too many times...Ray Suarez left, replaced with Juan Williams's milquetoast BS...I haven't tuned in since 2001....even the local shows, including the one starring Ms. Katherine Lanpher started to tank around that time. The rest of it is as dry as dust....to hell with 'em. I used to donate, as well, and all I got for it was a catalog in the mail where I was asked to buy a bunch of nostalia wanker goodies to fill my bourgeois need to own the past....fuck 'em! /rant off
