C-Span Replay: Kerry's speech to VFW is a MUST SEE! For those who
still have questions about his foreign policy and Iraq. I've been very upset with his statements about foreign policy/war and his vote for IRW(Iraq War Resolution).

I caught a replay of his speech late yesterday afternoon and he addressed many of my concerns. It's a great speech and made me feel much more comfortable about what he's thinking and the direction he
wants to go with foreign policy and Iraq and his feelings about pre-emptive War.

Here's a link to the C-Span replay from "Road to the White House." It looks like the speech is the last part of the replay so maybe you can fast forward to it somehow.

If anyone has the individual clip saved and can post it that would be great. It's a Must See!

1. Audience reaction?
Saw on Google News that Kerry took some heat from the audience

2. I heard applause at all of his points. But, I thought that the C-Span
audio wasn't clear enough for the background. There was someone shouting in the background over the applause, and the camera didn't show who it was. I couldn't hear what the person was saying (again, the audio seemed muted) and I figured they must be "pro-Kerry" or they would have been taken out by the SS just like the heckler at one of Bush's speeches was.

I heard most of Bush's speech to the Vets of Foreign Wars (VFW) so this was an amazing contrast. Those guys are a tough audience but I heard alot of applause. Check it out and see what you think.

3. Well, that's interesting, because
Edited on Thu Aug-19-04 07:15 AM by Jawja
according to Carl Quintinilla of NBC News, Kerry was:

"Greeted by a reception that, compared to the president's, was decidedly chilly. Empty seats and some cold shoulders. Jerry Hill stood and turned his back, 'He turned his back on me in 1971 while I was stationed in vietnam and he was up at the senate hearings bad mouthing the military.'" (NBC Nightly News, August 18, 2004)

I guess that's the "media filter," which basically says Kerry bombed at the VFW.

on edit: spelling

4. I turned on the speech after he had started speaking, so I missed when
he came into the room, so maybe C-Span showed what you are talking about before he spoke.

I plan to rewatch the whole speech later today, and will check to see what you are talking about. Is the NBC reporter saying he was there for the speech? Most of them just watch C-Span...if he was there then maybe
he saw something different, or he's just another "media whore" shilling for NBC/GE.

5. i think very highly of Kerry for facing criticism and allowing people to
protest him .

they are lucky the candidate they oppose lets them do that because the candidate they support would never let them do that with him in the room. it would be very restricted to those who support anything he does.

9. Well...I'll kick again...but either no one cares, or they've already seen
it. If you haven't and you are a "peace in Iraq and get us the hell out" you might warm up to Kerry on this one...it's worth a look for those like me who really worry about his "war stance."

6. At 37.14 McCain is going into a rant...
... and he says something about "As long as there are young men standing on street corners throughout the Missle East with no hope, no job, no opportunity, sent to schools, FUNDED BY THE SAUDIS, that teaches them to hate, wanting to destroy America and everything we believe in,.....My friends, that's why this is going to be a long war on terror...."

Did I actually hear him say that?
Is he saying that the terraists are funded by the SAUDIS???
