It's clear already the 3 post limit should remain in effect.
Two locks in the first couple of minutes of the new forum? :wtf:

The limit would continue to help keep the people with, shall we say, behavioral problems in check.

Otherwise, General Discussion: Presidential will transform into GD: Primaries by eight o'clock tonight.

And we know what a disaster scene that place was, even with the posting limit in place.

18. Those were misguided attempts at humor...
I don't think either of those posters would be effected by the limit.

5. It's sort of like free swim at the pool. Some people can't control themselves.
The lifeguards gave them a talking too and now they're calmed down and playing marco polo over in the corner.

On the other hand, I'm going to get real tired real fast of countless "This is my fifth thread todaaaaaay!" threads.

11. Some of the most notorious assholes from the previoius
forum would have started a dozen threads a day if they had the chance.

Three threads kept them from making the forum completely unbearable, as opposed to "only" nearly unbearable.

10. It's still the shiny new toy right now...
...give people a day or two to settle down and then we'll see. I'm pretty sure we're not going to have people trying to post that they've got the 2,781st new thread in the new forum!!!!!! by tomorrow. And there's only so long people can keep pulling out those "BREAKING!" joke threads and still think they're funny.

26. I disagree
The reason the 3 post limit came up was that a few people were posting lots of antagonistic stuff. They put in a 3 post limit and banned some of the troublemakers. I thought that banning and warning people was a better solution than the 3 post limit, but whatever.

So the 3 post limit isn't necessary now because there shouldn't be that much antagonistic stuff. Besides, DU has always been about the fast free flowing stream of news, ideas, opinion, etc..

but nobody has 20 ideas a day that warrant their own thread. There's still a couple of the original worst-offenders here, and I expect they'll be spamming this board in no time.

31. it's called spam
it annoys most people. it overtakes the front page.

Since there's only a handful of offenders, I've always thought it would be easier to just limit THEM to 3 threads. But the admins wanted to limit it to everyone because of the behavior of about 5 people.

32. Yea, well DU stopped being the "fast free throwing stream of
news, ideas, opinion, etc." which is why the three post rule was overwhelmingly approved by DU members.

There's nobody here who has more than three solid ideas/thoughts worthy of more than three separate threads in a 24-hour period.

By thread number 4, it's generally shit-stirring.

They use it for news items, polls, etc. Thats why I always thought the rule was very limiting.
