Well, I'm 35 and finally volunteering for a campaign.
Thursday evening I will be going to work a call center for Kerry in Portland. How about that? It's amazing. I know what my political interest was a few years ago and what it is now. Some of it is age and circumstance but some is sheer desire to see Bush gone.

If I extrapolate my feeling and actions across the US population, I believe this will mean a turnout that exceeds recent elections. (But maybe they will just say the extra votes were computer glitches?)

I guess this is a real turning point. If things don't go our way this fall I'm going to have a very hard time believing in America as anything more than beyond it's apex in modern civilization. We will be heading down a long slide. Road to Serfdom. I hope that is not the case.

Can you believe it? I'm motivated like never before but slightly jaded. This is also the first campaign I've ever donated money to. My first vote was in 2000 with the express purpose of keeping Bush from the WH and continuing along the prosperous lines of Clinton/Gore.

After November I'll either be weeping tears of relief and joy or I'll be packing my bags and praying for the people still here.

1. big deal <g>
This is the first election I've ever donated to or volunteered for, and I'm 59. My reasons are much the same as yours, except that I will stay and fight, no matter what.

3. Me too
First campaign I have sort of donated to (donated to Move On a few times and did a Bake Sale). Still working on the volunteering thing, haven't heard back from the Democratic Party here in RI and there isn't a big Kerry push here as we are pretty solid Blue. I have registered 7 Kerry voters so I guess that counts as volunteering LOL (I even paid for the stamp on each of them LOL) I'm 30, so I guess part of it could be getting older...but I have always been fairly interested in politics, I think that seeing the election stolen 4 years ago and then seeing what was done with the theft has made me lean more and more towards activism.

4. First I've ever donated to,
and I continue to donate to on a regular basis.

Please let us know about your experiences at the call center. I'll bet you will have some stories to tell.

5. First time for me too
And this is what convinces me that Kerry will win. The sheer number of people who are involved for the first time. I take that as a harbinger of a massive voter turn out. I cannot wait for Nov 2 !!!!

6. I'm the same way
I was slightly involved in the Dukakis campaign when in college, but I have NEVER been this involved, and I've never given money before this. My husband and I have budgeted money out of each paycheck for the campaign. We are doing quite a bit of volunteer work.

If you and I are any indication of the mood in this country, Kerry will win by a landslide.

7. As a Canuck, I am thanking you for your efforts and American
can-do attitude because four more years of Bushco is not only diasterous for the US but for the world as well. I have always followed US elections and foreign affairs closely but I have never felt as I do now that the fate of the world hangs in the balance. America is the child of the Enlightenment, not the child of born again fundementalists and slithery neo-conservatives. I have to close off but I and millions of others thank you.

8. We DEFINITELY know the world is watching.
we know that the majority of Americans who oppose preemptive war and who oppose giving billions to pharmaceuticals instead of providing universal health care have friends and brothers in Canada, Europe, Asia, and all over the world.

We want this parasite removed and are writhing in pain until it is excised. I only hope I will soon see the dramatic outpouring of goodwill from other nations when Bush is booted and Kerry is sworn in.

9. Good for you bransonfu!
It's never too late to get started. I've mainly worked local city council elections and one state legislative race, but this year I'm volunteering big time. A little of everything, block walking, registering voters, phone banking you name it. This is the first year I ever contributed to a presidential candidate too.

I have to give credit to Dr. Dean. He's the one that gave me hope again. I want my country back.
