The PROS to Hillary as VP.
I have been thinking about this: 1) MANY of her 18 million voters feel she has earned it and would work hard for the ticket if they didn't think she was "snubbed" be Obama. (I have one good friend who says he won't vote Obama unless Hillary is on the ticket. Won't vote McBUSH either, but won't vote Obama.) 2) One hell of a tenacity to release on the national R's. Oh, she'd unleash on them like hellfire ! Would chew McCain a new asshole ! 3) STRONG support among working class, whites, women, older voters, and HISPANICS (how else do we get them short of Richardson??), ALL of whom we need to come out in big numbers in November.
4) As VEEP she could head up healthcare with an Obama/Hillary hybrid plan. A great role for her
5) Is plenty well qualified to be Prez. 6) Would help to unify the party, and we MUST be united.

I know, the cons are: 1) Can they get along or would she want too much say in the campaign?
2) What to do with Bill ???? (He's still a very strong campaigner and great with rural white vote.) 3) Will she and Bill energize the R's too much??? 4) Is a black man and white woman too much "change" in one year and on one ticket?? (We need white men too.)

What do you think? On balance, I'd actually be ok with Hillary on the ticket, and think at this stage, after much thought, that she would be an asset in the end on the whole. MANY of her supporters feel very strongly about this, and we NEED her supporters. (Webb, Strickland, and Clark would also be very good choices. I especially like Webb and Clark. I also like Schweitzer.)

1. As of right now, Obama is doing fine among white voters and Hispanics.
Also, she may have had 17.5 million voters, but she doesnt have nearly that many supporters. Though they were close in the popular vote, many more Democrats supported Obama in the final month of the campaign. A recent poll was taken as the primary was ending, showing that Obama had 59% to Clinton's 35%. That is a lot less than the 18 milion she likes to peddle.

2. ...I hate to even think this, but, suppose some right-wing crazy out there
decides to "take Obama out." Would he not think twice about that action if he knew that Hillary would then become president? Could she be used as a form of life insurance for BO?

4. We can argue the flipside of that
Think about this: The gung-ho Hillary fans, the ones who are either living vicariously through her or are so emotionally invested in her struggle or are so outraged over the "injustice" of her loss, now see that she is but one small step from the office she so richly deserves...just ONE step.

I'll leave it at that.

Otherwise, to save typing, I'll trot out once again some pretty solid reasons NOT to have her on the ticket. Just picking one of them out of the hat, I really, really don't feel like being subjected to looping video of Hillary lauding the fact that she thought that she and John McCain crossed the "Commander-in-Chief" threshold while her would-be boss is nothing "but a speech".

Oh, and why not undercut him further with video of Bill dismissing his ideas as a "fairy tale" and lamenting that the contest should have been between McCain and his wife, two people who "loved their country"?

No thanks.

Much, much more here - all you have to do is skim the headings.

5. nonsense - more than half of total party wants her as VP - and senior white women and lower
income whites and senior men are not totally following her in backing Obama - as of today it looks like 7 to 10 % of Dems meaning 2 to 4% of the vote will not go back to Obama if Hill is not VP. If the race is an Obama blowout, it becomes a "so what".

But even then there may be a realignment of a major portion of those that now call themselves "Democratic Party members".

7. 7-10% of dems backed Bush in 04, except there are many more Dems this year than in 04
Not to mention, McCain has problems with his party too.

10. 32 percent of indies have 'strongly unfavorable' view
of Clinton 10% for Obama. 67% of republicans have 'strongly unfavorable' view of Clinton, 25% for Obama.

Clinton drags the ticket down.

3. You forgot
a few reason why it won't work having her as VP. Right now the republicans are running ads on TV using her comments about her and McCain having years of experience, but all Obama has is a speech! That's just the start of what they will put on TV using her words saying that Obama is not ready to be president. Then you need to look at the fact Bill will NOT give up the name donors to his library, or some of his questionable business partners. There is now way that Bill and Hillary can make it through the vetting process that ALL VP potentials have to go through!

She would do well in a cabinet position, but not as the VP!

12. "Unity" does not equal "Blind love fest"
I understand that there are Dems that would like Clinton to be VP. There are also a lot who would not...for the reasons stated above and a host of others.

I think Clinton as VP is one of the only 3 or 4 ways Obama could lose in November.

SlickHilly's long list of lies, spins, and morphs.
1) "I support the DNC rules." ------- "Florida and Michigan should be seated as is."

2) "It doesn't matter if my name is on the MI ballot, MI doesn't count." ----- "MI counts and
others could have been on the ballot had they wanted."

3) "I lose caucus states because MoveOn and activists take them over and intimidate my voters."

4) "You don't get change by hoping or fighting for it, you get it by working for it." ------
"We need a fighter in the White House and I'm your fighter."

5)"I am honored to be here with Barack Obama." ----- "Shame on you Barack Obama."

6) "Barack Obama can't win the GE." ----- "Yes yes yes, he can win (but I'm better)".

7) "We took sniper fire when we landed in Bosnia."

8) "Obama won SC because there are many AA's there."

9) "My PA victory was overwhelming." (Though she was SUPPOSED to win and WAS ahead by 20 a few weeks ago and won by only 9.)

10) "If we had the Republican system, I would be the nominee."

11) "John McCain and I are experienced, Obama isn't."

12) "I want a Middle East security umbrella and will nuke Iran if they attack Israel or those under my umbrella." (So much for a new foreign policy approach because I gotta look TOUGH and get the Jewish vote.)

13) "I helped broker a peace deal in Northern Ireland."

14) "PACS and lobbyists are real citizens."

15) "I have lots of experience in the White House, but didn't know my husband pardoned Weathermen or invited Rev. Wright when he was repenting over Monica."

16) "Obama should disown his former pastor on principle, but I won't disown my husband for cheating on me MULTIPLE times."

17) "I'm the fighter for the people who takes PAC $, lobbyist $, worked for WalMart, worked for the corporate Rose Law Firm, and was close to convict Norman Hsu."

18) "I was cool to NAFTA then for it for YEARS and am now cool to it again."

19) "I am against the Iraq war but voted for it and won't say that vote was an error."

20) "I am a lifelong Yankee fan and my daughter was jogging around the twin towers on 9/11 so I was a very concerned mother that day."

21) "Obama is afraid to debate me." (even though we have debated 21 times)

22) "No, my husband wasn't having kinky encounters with Monica. It is a vast right wing conspiracy !!"

"HillFOLKS, how can you stomach this massive heap of steaming CRAPOLA ???? Do you now understand why
the media and the R's are on their knees every night hoping and praying that they will be able to run against Hillary in November (and are therefore trying to damage Obama). This is more fodder for them than anyone could imagine. 60% of the country doesn't believe her, and 50% or more doesn't like her. How can you actually for this, and I have barely scratched the surface?"
