The Wife John 'The Weasel ' McCain Callously Left Behind
All women (Democrats, Republicans & Independents ) should take a REAL good look at John McCain who likes to stake a claim talking about ' moral fiber ' by referring to his five years as a prisoner-of-war in Vietnam and demonstrate his commitment to family values even though after returning from Vietnam he entertained an adulterous relationship with Cindy while married to Carol. I guess the religious right likes to ' cherry pick ' the standards of what constitutes ' family values & moral fiber ' by looking the other way when it comes to John ' Full-of-Sh!t ' McCain.

Carol- " ‘My marriage ended because John McCain didn’t want to be 40, he wanted to be 25. You know that happens...it just does.’

Some of McCain’s acquaintances are less forgiving, however. They portray the politician as a self-centered womanizer who effectively abandoned his crippled wife to ‘play the field’. They accuse him of finally settling on Cindy, a former rodeo beauty queen, for financial reasons.

But already the McCain's’ marriage had begun to fray. ‘John started carousing and running around with women,’ said Robert Timberg.

McCain has acknowledged that he had girlfriends during this time, without going into details. Some friends blame his dissatisfaction with Carol, but others give some credence to her theory of a mid-life crisis.

And yet despite his popularity as a politician, there are those who won’t forget his treatment of his first wife.

Ted Sampley, who fought with US Special Forces in Vietnam and is now a leading campaigner for veterans’ rights, said: ‘I have been following John McCain’s career for nearly 20 years. I know him personally. There is something wrong with this guy and let me tell you what it is – deceit.

‘When he came home and saw that Carol was not the beauty he left behind, he started running around on her almost right away. Everybody around him knew it.

‘Eventually he met Cindy and she was young and beautiful and very wealthy. At that point McCain just dumped Carol for something he thought was better.

‘This is a guy who makes such a big deal about his character. He has no character. He is a fake. If there was any character in that first marriage, it all belonged to Carol.’

But Ross Perot, who paid her medical bills all those years ago, now believes that both Carol McCain and the American people have been taken in by a man who is unusually slick and cruel – even by the standards of modern politics.

‘McCain is the classic opportunist. He’s always reaching for attention and glory,’ he said.

‘After he came home, Carol walked with a limp. So he threw her over for a poster girl with big money from Arizona. And the rest is history.’

2. While probably true, this article references despicable characters like Ted Sampley.
Too bad.

4. I didn't know that
Ross Perot paid her medical bills. That makes me feel good. I wonder how many others Perot might have helped. I always liked the little rooster - not so much his politics.

5. Wedding vows do not include the line "In sickness and
in health, except...."

McCain is just another in a long line of "family values" politician hypocrites. Dumping a spouse for a younger trophy wife is bad enough, but dumping a spouse who has suffered severe injuries in an accident and is physically changed because of it is the mark of true pond scum.

6. Hmmm. Didn't we all support John Kerry back in 2004 ???
Did we all sit around and make judgements about John Kerry's first marriage to a rich woman, his first wife's mental health problems, how their marriage ended, and the fact that Kerry asked the Catholic Church to have his first marriage annulled so he could marry his even richer second wife?

Just askin' .... :eyes:

10. Where is his adopted Indian daughter?
I never see her on the campaign trail. No mention of her in this article. Is it just a figment of my imagination? Remember the push poll Bush did in 2000 asking if voters would vote for McCain if they knew he had an illegitimate black daughter. What's up with this?

11. I think I caught a glimpse of her in a McSame
snippet one day recently. She was walking near Cindy getting on a plane. Let's just say if she's the girl I saw, she has a significant weight issue and will, no doubt, be kept out of sight as much as possible while the slim, cute blonde daughter will be in the limelight.

12. Creating the illusion of the ' perfect red-blooded american family ' by hiding the crazy,
ugly daughter in the basement. Sounds like he's being consistent on how he treated his first wife Carol because ' she was broken and didn't have the LOOKS ' anymore. McCain's ' Gattaca ' mentality.

Only photo that came up during a quick Google Image search.

I feel bad for the girl having been adopted into a family of blond repukes. It's gotta be tough.

14. I feel sorry for her also. I wonder how McCain's other children
feel about her and their step-mom Cindy.

Did McCain plot to create the perfect american family image of wealth and position as a stepping stone for his WH quest?.

" It seems that McCain, who had once revealed to fellow prisoners of war in Vietnam that he wanted to be president, was restless in 1979. As Navy liaison to the Senate, he didn't have the career momentum he had counted on to propel him into an admiralty and on to the White House. He was 42, mired in stifling ordinariness. (Civilians call it "midlife crisis.")

But McCain was making bold career moves on the home front, hotly pursuing a 25-year-old blond from a wealthy Arizona family -- while married. Carol, his wife at the time, had once been quite a babe herself apparently, until a near-fatal car accident (while her husband was in Vietnam) left her 4 inches shorter, overweight and on crutches. The couple had three children, whom Carol cared for alone while her husband was in Vietnamese prisons.

McCain's strategy worked perfectly: After chasing Cindy Hensley around the country for six months, he closed the deal late in the year, had a divorce by February and was married to Hensley shortly thereafter. Bingo! McCain was a candidate for Congress by early 1982, his coffers full, his home in the proper Arizona district purchased.

15. Maybe John Kerry can make a speech denouncing McCain for messing-up his first marriage?
After all, Kerry had no problem denouncing Hillary Clinton in 2008 for voting to authorize military action against Iraq back in 2002 (forgetting to mention that Kerry had himself spoken at great length on the Senate floor about why his fellow Democrats should vote for the IWR - the day before Sen. Clinton spoke during that same debate).
