Poll question: Who do you want as Obama's Running Mate?
I am taking an un-scientific DU poll here but I am curious if we have a consensus choice here on DU. I saw some polls with huge numbers for an Obama-Clinton ticket but I am fairly certain that those numbers are considerably lower here on DU.

I left out some possibility but serious stretches like Chuck Hagel or Michael Bloomberg mostly since neither are in the party or very likely choices.

Also for extra credit submit your some cabinet choices in posts below. :)

For me personally I would choose Wes Clark as VP. He's still considered an outsider, is a Clinton guy, has serious military cred and I think he's well liked in the party.

Some cabinet choices:
-Attorney General: Jonathan Turley (Constitutional Lawyer... and let's face it we need a strong Constitutional Attorney to restore it and prosecute Bushco).

-HUD Secretary: John Edwards (here's a spot where he can really do some good on his poverty work)

-Head of Dept. of Homeland Security: Chuck Hagel (I know, he's a Republican but this would make Obama look like he was serious about working with Republicans and Hagel has been one of the most staunch anti-war, pro-constitution conservatives the past few years)

-Secretary of Defense: Jim Webb (Webb's military credentials are well known and VA is about to pick up Mark Warner as a Democratic Senator. Not to mention Kaine could appoint a Democratic replacement.)

-Secretary of State: Joe Biden (Biden is a tough but smart guy who knows all the major players in the world and could make a difference. Plus, like Webb, he has a Democratic Governor who can fill his seat and keep it blue)

29. or a supporter of the LGBT community like
say SF Mayor Gavin Newsome? Sherrod Brown could also be a good choice, popular populist Senator from the swing state of Ohio.

5. I'm liking Schweitzer for VP so far; Biden for Sec. of State
Someone mentioned Patrick Fitzgerald for Atty General a while back - not sure about that.

I'd like to see Edwards head of Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS)

Gore as U.N. Ambassador

14. I'd love that choice...
However a lot of Dems seem to hold a ridiculous grudge against him (even though they should direct it to Carville) and a lot of Republicans seem to hate the guy... although I would hope a bunch of them would have buyers remorse for 2004.

28. The backlash was fueled by the McAuliffe crowd digging in for Hillary2008 in 2004.
They targeted Kerry for all blame and smeared him relentlessly the same way they did to Gore after 2000. It was all about keeping Clintons as the figureheads of the party.

No surprise Kerry turned over his national network to Obama early on which wiped the floor with Clintons' national team. I am quite certain it was the idiots from the Clinton wing that interefered with the campaigns and elections of Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004. How did the Dem party get so snowed into believing TeamClinton was so superior and competent when it's obvious now they have been the weakest links?

Edited on Mon Jun-09-08 12:51 PM by MessiahRp
Not that I care because honestly her being the VP nominee would make me happy but it would hurt with all the people that have bought into those ridiculous labels.
