Obama taking campaign to Republican turf
You know I hope he doesn't spend too much time in Montana. Missouri is of course a different story--but I even wonder about NC. He needs to spend (IMHO) a great deal of time in the swing states: NM, IA, MO, OH, PA, FL, etc.

1. And VA.
It will take some work but he can win in VA.

3. Russert said he asked Tester a yr ago. If he thought any Dem could carry MT in the GE
And he said. Yes Obama.

Now remember. This was a YR AGO when he asked Tester.

MT has two Dem Senators and a Dem Governor. Maybe it goes Repuke for Presidential Elections because Dems spend no time there. I wouldn't give up on MT. But I would spend a ton of time in Virginia.

4. I don't know about Georgia
Maybe put some money in there early and see if anyone bites, but that state may be lost for awhile.

Mississippi, however, with the highest black percentage in the nation, might be worth a more serious look.

6. It forces the Pukes to spend money they don't want to spend...
...in places they'd like to think of as "safe".

I'm all for draining the Repuke coffers!

Besides, it will help any down-ticket races in these states EVEN IF Obama doesn't win them himself.

14. Don't take it personally. I'm from Texas and I say don't bother here either.
I guess my take is that in states that will go solidly red anyway (like Texas or Montana) it doesn't seem like a great use of resources.

By the way I would also say don't spend too much time in states that will go blue no matter what.

None of this, of course, has anything to do with whether any of these states are or are not great.

8. It doesn't even have to be lethal
The first NYT headline that says, "McCain Camp Nervous Over North Carolina, Georgia" will burst a dam, and John McCain's campaign will spend so much time reassuring its supporters that they aren't on the verge of collapse that they won't even have time to drag states like Pennsylvania and Michigan into the narrative.

10. Don't forget the Atlantic states: MA, CT, NJ
Those aren't locks by any stretch of the imagination. Fortunately he's shown himself to be a tireless campaigner (and a very good one too) and he's got the $$$.

12. I'd rather try for VA, GA, LA, AR, Carolinas,
Then keep beating my head against Appalachia. Let them come along after the south does I guess.

13. NC is definitely in play ...
NC resident here.

Some positive factors:

1. Sizable black population (me included!)
2. Big Universities - UNC-CH, Duke, NC Central, NC State, East Carolina, Wake Forest, Fayetteville State
3. HUGE Nexus of college educated folks in Triangle Area
4. Fayetteville / Fort Bragg - City with lots of Military ties that may be supportive of Obama's IRAQ reduction strategy.

Gov. Easley supported Hillary Clinton, though. Lets hope he goes out and puts in a good word for Obama now.

The key is that we need to get every last black person in the state to go out and vote. We can turn NC over for Obama, I can feel it!

15. Obama has Colorado and Virginia in his sights. I'm going to Colorado to work.
Barack, in fact, has put 10 states into play and has expanded the electoral map possibilities. This election those wanting to work in potential swing states will have a cornucopia to choose from!

16. 50 state strategy, folks.
That means NOT blowing every minute in OH, PA, and FL.

It means getting off your ass and making McYawn fight for places he should normally be able to count on--places like NV, NM, CO, MO, IA, VA, NC. It prevents him from spending time and resources in those "precious swing states".
