Clark Praises Sebelius
Looks like Geberal Clark has some nice things to say about Governor Kathleen Sebelius
"Another sign that the Clinton campaign is coming to an end: Former Gen. Wesley Clark, a Clinton loyalist, introduced Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius at an event Monday, reportedly saying, “The London oddsmakers say that Kathleen Sebelius is the odds-on favorite to be the next vice president. I can tell you, she’d make a great vice presidential choice.”

Looks like it might happen.

1. I'd be more than fine with that...
As an interesting sub-text, I want to see the Hillary "feminist" reaction to this. The junk we hear in the media of them being insulted if a woman other than Hillary is selected really smacks of anti-feminism to me. They automatically seem to assume that anyone else would just be a facsimile replacement.

3. He can chose whomever he feels is most appropriate
And if he feels that having HRC and Bill wandering about the white house would not be conducive to productivity, then I would agree.

If certain voters feel that Hillary is somehow entitled to the post, then it is very sad, but not surprising, since her whole campaign was wrapped up in "entitlement".

We will win without the "emotional", "we won't vote if you don't pick her", "whiner" faction of the party.

4. Bull!
I am sick of the idea that there is only one seat at the table for a woman, whether in the White House the board room, or any other powerful group.

Not only keeps the # of women in power positions limited, but creates the most vicious competition for the one available seat among women ourselves.

5. I think there are numerous women qualified for the job
to say Hillary is the only one is a bit sexist against women.

16. That's what I thought, too, and...
it implies that he can pick any old male he wants.

But it sets a different standard for his decision based upon gender.

I think the statement is sexist, and, as you say, sexist against other potentially more qualified women.

For Shame.

12. Traditionally the nominee chooses the vice presidential nominee and asks
Edited on Sun Jun-08-08 09:53 PM by Old Crusoe
the convention to confirm that choice.

The losing candidates do not get that choice. Nor should they.

This isn't high school. Obama won the nomination; he gets first dibs and final call on the veep pick.

19. So in other words, he should discriminate against women because of Clinton?
That's progressive.

7. I expect both Clark and Sebelius are shortlist contenders.
Sebelius impresses me for a lot of reasons, but one is she has grounding in Kansas and Ohio both. Her dad was Ohio Gov. John Gilligan.

10. I like her, but I just don't see that people are all that familiar with her.
She's kind of a relative unknown, isn't she?

11. More than 'relative' unknown,
closeup; I'd say, 'utterly' unknown.

14. Well, yeah, I guess that captures it better.
:)

What can I say. She'd probably make a great vice-president based upon what people here say, but in my opinion, Obama needs a weightier running mate in terms of a nationally popular Dem who's a known quantity. Unless people think he's just going to steamroller into office on the strength of his own considerable appeal, which is very possible. :)

15. I think nationally popular is a good idea;
'they' have been talking about Virginia as important state to capture, thus looking at Webb and Warner.

I don't know who 'they' is, of course, because all we hear is regurgitated b.s. circulating around the media.

We MUST NOT assume that anyone is going to 'steamroller' into anything, esp because tho Kerry won, we 'lost.' We've got to be vigilant in all these respects.

17. Whoever it is, I'll probably say, "Damn, that was brilliant!"
I trust that the choice will be strategic and principled, and not done under pressure.

That's the pattern he's established.
