Obama is simply "The Candidate"....but we are the ones that we have been waiting for!
Watch this homemade video of his meeting with his Chicago HQ staff (filled with young people) from yesterday.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnhmByYxEIo

Please know that those of us who have supported his candidacy throughout came to realize early that "we are the ones that we have been waiting for".

Yes, Sen. Obama is the candidate and now the presumptive Democratic nominee, but know that those who support him do not believe that this run is about him....nor does he. He is the candidate, but he is only the imperfect means to our end.....and it is clear that he recognizes this as much as we do.

It is up to us to change the world......as he cannot do it alone! :patriot:

23. I loved it
When he was speaking to his staff I felt like he was speaking to me.

Thanking me for all I had done ~ I actually felt proud.

He ran the most beautiful campaign. It should be the model for how to win against all odds and stay cool.

He is a remarkable man.

44. It is the difference between those who sit on their asses and hope all works out
and those who actually participate in charting their own future.

Those sitting on their asses rely on others to make their lives better....and with that they gamble that it may work out or perhaps not. Those who go out there and make the difference end up working for change. The point is that we are not waiting for a savior to save us from ourselves, instead, we are the ones that can make the difference and therefore are the ones that we have waited for.

Get it?

46. You can discuss something in a friendly manner sometimes.
I don't think the tone of your response was called for. The meaning of that statement is not self evident, and explaining it doesn't require you to talk down to someone who asks about it. Did you think you were being attacked?

49. You have a right your opinion, and you won't find me scolding you
as you have just done me.

We are the ones that we have been waiting for is not an uncommon statement and has history.

we are the ones we have been waiting for!!!!

You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour.
Now you must go back and tell the people that this is The Hour.

Here are the things that must be considered:

Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know our garden.
It is time to speak your Truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leader.

This could be a good time!

There is a river flowing now very fast.
It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid.
They will try to hold on to the shore.
They will feel like they are being torn apart, and they will suffer greatly.

Know the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off toward the middle of
the river,
keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water.

See who is there with you and celebrate.

At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all
ourselves!
For the moment we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.

The time of the lonely wolf is over.
Gather yourselves!

Banish the word struggle from your attitude and vocabulary.

All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.

We are the ones we have been waiting for.

a wrong and borderline disturbing note.

I did watch the video and it not change my mind on that sentiment.

One(just one) of the aspects of it is that it suggests a generational blindness. I am not sure the campaign understands the generation that came before it except via convenient media fed sound morsels and over repeated film clips.

16. Thanks so much Frenchie..that's just what I needed right NOW.
I felt like I was right there with those young campaign workers getting the pep talk of their lives.

Obama is such an inpirational speaker to his troops..making sure they understand their achievements and that it's About YOU, baby!! And, their organizational skills eliminating the blame game and benefitting from Good Heart!

It's still surreal that we won and I'm happy they can take the weekend to savor it before "they come back ready to go and..Fired UP"!

Amazing video and every Obama supporter should watch it to learn more about their candidate. He talked about in August when they were 30 points down and a month straight of depression not knowing if he would be the best candidate but that they would have the best organization!

I didn't get on board until January 2008 so I have a lot of campaign history to explore to learn how they got here.

33. Absolutely LOVED the video ! He is my candidate of choice, and I'm just an ol' 1960s Hippiechick!
Glad the video is on YouTube for all to see.

Will someone please create a video of Obama and set it to Sam Cooke's 1960s hit "A Change Is Gonna Come"? It meant a lot to some of us in the 1960s, and the message is still relevant:

"A Change Is Gonna Come"
I was born by the river in a little tent
Oh and just like the river I've been running ever since
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

It's been too hard living but I'm afraid to die
Cause I don't know what's up there beyond the sky
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

I go to the movie and I go downtown
Somebody keep telling me don't hang around
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

Then I go to my brother
And I say brother help me please
But he winds up knocking me
Back down on my knees

Ohhhhhhhhh.....

There been times that I thought I couldn't last for long
But now I think I'm able to carry on
It's been a long, a long time coming
But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will

:headbang: :hippie: :applause:

42. I'm heir to the Wobbly credo of "We're ALL Leaders",
but am also fully aware that it's an over-simplification. Without a catalyzing agent, and a determined one, many worthwhile movements never reach critical mass. A very recent convert to Obama (from just a few months ago), I am now convinced that Obama is that person!

I'm growing very impatient with those who seem to try to cut him down to "mere mortal like the rest of us", and suspect the ulterior motives of some of them, but I can understand their frame of mind. I SINCERELY urge them to study that video clip, and reconsider.

48. The source of that sentiment: the Hopi Elders Prayer (here it is)
This has been on my frig door since 12/04. We closed the 2005 National Election Reform Conference with it (on film in "Eternal Vigilance", the precursor to "UNCOUNTED"). Hopefully the person upthread who didn't understand the sentence will have a better understanding when it's read in context.

Peace. And (before I forget)... Fired Up! Ready To Go!

50. That's it! I knew it came from Native American culture. Couldn't place it. Thanks!
It's an extraordinary tradition of self-empowerment. Entirely consistent with Gandhi's "We must be the change we wish to see in the world." It's the root of anything that can remotely be called "democracy."
