Hahahahaha! McCain thinks he has a shot at California !!!!
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 04:46 PM by yourguide
On McLame's home page there is a video called "strategy briefing" which goes through the strategy the campaign plans to take going forward. No shit, there is a "changing the map" section where they actually suggest he has a shot at cali hahahahahaha! This is a screen shot about 6 minutes in, I nearly fell out of my chair howling laughing.

Poor McCain, no one told him to change the map you have to be on the plus side of the wave, not on the side that is going to be wiped out.

32. He still may. San Diego County has a revolving door between Diebold et al and election officials
This is from last year:

BREAKING: Former Diebold, Sequoia Sales Rep Named as New San Diego County Registrar of Voters
Joins Recently Named Assistant Registrar Michael Vu, Whose Cuyahoga County Elections Led to Criminal Convictions in '04 Presidential Recount and New '06 Criminal Investigations...
Guest Blogged by John Gideon

It has just been announced by San Diego County that they have hired Deborah Seiler as their new permanent Registrar of Voters. Ms. Seiler joins the county elections office from her job as the Assistant Registrar in Solano County, California.

"Seiler brings unique elections experience from the state, local and private sector that adds valuable perspective at a crucial time," according to a press release (posted in full at the bottom of this article) as issued today by San Diego County.

All of which sounds great, until one does a moment or two of Googling --- particularly on that "private sector" point mentioned --- and Seiler's troubling past is quickly revealed to be yet more bad news for the voters of San Diego, who continue to get the worst of what American democracy is supposed to look like.

Look what we found out about Seiler...

According to a Wired News article from Sept. 2004, Seiler worked for 12 years in elections for the California Secretary of State's office. She then left, in 1991, through the revolving door and got off at the exit marked "Sequoia Voting Systems" where she worked for 8 years as their Government Relations Director. Then Seiler got back into the revolving door for her next stop at "Diebold Election Systems Incorporated" where she took a job as a sales representative.

It was while she was working for Diebold that she sold 1,200 Direct Recording Electronic (DRE) touch-screen voting machines to the fine folks in Solano County.

06' we've gained more than a few democrats.

9. I watched some of it, and what I saw struck me as delusional
They think they're going to win WI, CT and NH? They think VA and NC are Republican locks? And if Obama picks Richardson for the VP, you can kiss NM goodbye. They're basing the whole thing on the mythology of disaffected Democrats voting for McW. Ain't gonna happen.

12. I see this as evidence that McCain is disparately grasping at straws...
Often those that are trying to rally the troops will put out blatantly false hopes with the goal of attempting to show a perception of strength to their supporters. McCain is doing that here. McCain is trying to give the aura to his supporters that he is SO popular that he can even get a democratic stronghold.

Its not true, and they know it isn't. They are just trying to buck up the troops. They won't really spend a dime there, so this doesn't matter much, other than to point out that McCain understands his chances are VERY slim.

16. He won't spend a dime. He's just trying to get a headline indicating that he's still viable...
I wouldn't be surprised if we look at this in October and conclude that NO, he's not viable.

He will be sorely disappointed.

He is going to get his pasty old ass kicked on the West Coast from the Canadian border on down to the Mexican border.

17. he's going to be hard pressed to find the money
he's going to be spending a lot more than typically is the case in states like Virginia. California is a very expensive place to campaign and his campaign is going to have trouble figuring out how to make use of the limited $$ that they have against the Obama money machine.

20. He thinks PA and NJ are in play
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 05:26 PM by Jake3463
As much as I loathe Fast Eddie the democratic machine in PA is way to powerful for that to happen.

He should look at 2006 not 2004 and talk to Rick Santorum about his chances in PA.

Every 4 years the GOP looks to NJ and ends up spending money only to be defeated in double digits.

Also NJ, PA, and CA are among the most expensive media markets in the country with PA being covered by Philadelphia, NJ being covered by Philadelphia and New York and California...well no need for explanation.

I hope he tries in these states. It will bankrupt him. There is no GOP machine for him to use in any of them so it will be totally starting from scratch in all 3. Please John invest in PA, NJ, and CA. PLEASE!

We want nothing more than to get some good Christian Prayers and young-Earth creationism in public schools. We distrust free thought, science, and technology. We have no sense of humor, whatsoever, we hate entertainers, musicians, and ESPECIALLY Hollyweird. We have trouble toleratin' them "alternative lifestyles", ahem, and don' get us started on im'grants! (We do have some great Mexican food, here, however.. weird, huh?)

In short, we're a perfect fit for Today's Republican Party!

He's gonna do fucking GREAT, here.
