Ooo! Ooo! How about this?
GE ad for all fifty states

Law and Order theme plays

Obama sitting on Capitol Steps.

Stands up and starts down steps. Stops at bottom and meets VP candidate. They shake hands, turn back towards camera and keep walking
They are progressively joined on their flanks by folks in new Cabinet like Hillary, Biden, Richardson, Edwards, etc. Maybe also people running for Dem seats.

All striding together towards camera together.

Freeze

It's a New Season. Coming to the White House and Congress on Tuesday, November 4. Join us.

5. The music isn't the point so much as the name of the show it represents - Law and Order - coming in
2008

7. Thanks! The reason I picked Law and Order
is that we specifically HAVEN'T had the the Rule of Law and the Constitution has just been shredded under Bush, so this is a subliminal appeal to that return to Order - hence Law and Order.

The other reason is that it is so recognizable as a popular TV show that the inside joke of a "New Season" would resonate more. Also, "new Season" is another way to refer to "change" "renewal" , etc.

Who even knows if whoever owns that copyright is a Dem and would allow it to be used.

Just daydreaming about what I think will be a historic landslide in November.

Remember, one of their own said "If we were dog food, Republicans would be pulled from the shelves."

11. Mike Post wrote the theme music
but probably producer Dick Wolf owns the rights. I think your idea is brilliant, especially since Law & Order doesn't start its season until January of next year. (BTW, despite his "cheerleading" for Unity 08, Sam Waterston has given money only to Democrats since the turn of the century--and only gave to one Republican before that. He'd make a great narrator for this.)

15. Then the commercial sounds like a bad idea
It would pretty much be interpreted as cabinet selection by the media.

16. Ok, no cabinet. But the Pres (Obama) the VP (whoever)
and behind them and along side them can be all our Congress critters and any new ones running.

17. Oh the media would LOVE that kind of commercial
they would be parsing everything from how much sunlight reflected on each person to whether or not Hillary and Richardson looked happy standing in the same area code.

18. You're one of them thar hard to please types ain't cha?
You know I really am just daydreaming about the kind of thing that I would like to see and that I think would appeal to a lot of people in a slightly different way than political advertising has been handled before.

But regardless of this or any message, I don't think we can predicate our actions or marketing on what we think would please the media. Because, you know what, we will NEVER please the media. Since it's an impossibility in the first place, who cares?

Now, I have to run off and play my Ricky Nelson "Garden Party" CD.

22. Damn right I'm hard to please :-)
Notwithstanding my criticism, your commercial does sound like a good idea. Plus it might be a good way to get lots of media coverage. Play a commercial with a bunch of politicians in it and watch the media dissect it to death for a good week or two searching for hidden meanings and playing it backwards to see if it showed anything new.

14. I got chills just reading it.
If it's too early to have the whole Cabinet represented, it would be a GREAT way to announce his VP choice!

23. Well, I just left my "safe " corporate job voluntarily
specifically so I could do a little more "following my bliss". Jumped off a cliff, as it were.

I plan to involve myself a lot more personally in this campaign. As in "work my heart out".
