A revealing and unexpected look at McCain's strategy after Hillary's speech today.
I could not resist going over to hillaryclintonforum.net to check the reactions to her speech today (which I applaud her for), and in so doing, got an inadvertent look at the McCain team's strategy to exploit our divisions. I had hoped to find some reconciliation, but not a single poster there will vote for Obama, at least now. For example: http://www.hillaryclintonforum.net/discussion/showthread.php?t=15334&page=11

OK. That's not the point of this post; that's not news. But I found this gem interesting, and it's clear that the McCain team, Fox, Hannity and the rest will use this strategy. It's worth knowing about, as they are apparently now actively seeking out certain people so as to use them. It's not the only post about these contacts, but it's the most literate:

Ironically, right at the end of the speech, I got a call from Citizens for McCain. I had a great talk with them. They are already on the ground running to defeat Obama in November and I can't wait to be a part of that victory.

I received a call from them Thursday. I had a good talk with one of McCain's people at his headquarters who asked if I would be open to speaking to the media. I said that I would. However, I'm not expecting to be contacted. I believe I made good points and, having experience in radio and TV, made them effectively. However, I don't think that I fit the demographic they are looking for at this point. Yes, I have been a hard working campaigner for Hillary and strongly backed her. But, as I explained to the McCain campaign headquarters representative, though registered Democrat, I am basically moderate, even somewhat a moderate conservative, and am not a life long Democrat. I pointed out why I would not vote for Sen. Obama (inexperienced, unqualified, questionable judgment as evidenced by his long time connections with radical anti-American associates) and stated that my decision not to support his candidacy is in no way influenced by the gender issue that many Clinton supporters consider paramount. For maximum impact, I'm sure they were looking for long time Democrats who now will support McCain.

That said, I will be actively supporting Sen. McCain.

2. LOL!
If this is their plan, it will fail. One whiff of McCain losing his temper and any long-time Democrats with doubts about Obama because of his experience or judgement will be running back to Obama.

I think that their real plan is to run a blatantly racist campaign to scare people away from voting for Obama. I believe that that too will fail.

7. I agree. I think their tactic is actually "the kitchen sink" - all smear, no issues.
They may as well name Hannity campaign director now. They are going to use every conceivable personal attack possible, and avoid any discussion of solutions, to advance McCain. That's why I posted this; it beautifully reflects that mindset.

I too think they will fail, but it will be very ugly. We will find out a lot about the American people in this election.

5. Saying you support Obama even after Hillary concedes
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 03:08 PM by Jake3463
earns you the equivalent of a Tombstone there.

They have less than 3000 members of that who knows who signed up once and never came back. Most of them are out of the closet racist or insane.

Between them and Hillaryis44 there are about maybe 10,000 people.

16. Your Candidate Was A Real Class Act Today
Why not follow her example? Further. it seems that your assumption seems to be that I'm pointing the finger at true HRC supporters rather than pretenders who are trying to stir up trouble.

12. I was amused by the part "I believe I made good points and, having experience in radio and TV, made
them effectively". I have also had experience in radio and TV...and have met a lot of pompous idiots like this person.

13. Actually, me too. I wonder what that "experience" was.
One-time wonder, no doubt. But, she did spell correctly, which is rare on that site, which seems to be of one mind . . .

14. Reagan democrats..never intended to vote Hillary in the first place
I am sure there are a few in there who are just hurt and cannot let go of the dream.. but for the most part, I think it would be quite safe to say, those are democrats who have not voted for a democrat in thirty or forty years.. they just never changed their party affiliation.. there are many like that..

The maximum impact statement just about says it all..

I listened to rush the last few days just to get a flavor of what everyone was talking about and I caught a few crying in their beer and going to vote mccain.. and of course rush is patting them on the head.. they get off line.. and 20 minutes later he is laughing in their faces.. its amazing.. and most likely actors or people who do something like that, have esteem issues to say the least

15. Some registered Democrats
don't even understand Democratic values. This one certainly doesn't. No true Democrat will vote for McCain.

17. To me, a Reagan Democrat is no Democrat at all.
Funny, McCain's campaign is trying to dig up Dems who will vote for him, when what they should be worried about is whether enough REPUBLICANS will vote for him.

McCain couldn't possibly serve 2 terms paving the way for Clinton 2012

19. 'Citizens for McCain' is the org that Lieberman started to help McCain.
Lieberman is actively trolling for Dems now.

Kinda odd that his group was on these supposedly disaffected Dem/Hillary voter sites so fast - I'd almost tend to think that they were there all along. Stirring the pot, sending out the more gullible w/anti-Obama talking points, wedging one against the other, etc.
