I wonder if that can hold up in a presidential election, or if the contest will break that down and turn him a little more ugly. I guess this election we'll really find out if politics corrupt.

I think he WILL keep it up in the GE, which he started in his first GE speech, saying something like he recognized McCain's accomplishments even if he refuses to acknowledge his. But he won't have to hold back for fear of looking like he's "ganging up" on McCain or being too tough on him.
