One of the women I was with in Russia had her purse strap break, so I suggested that we looked for someplace to fix it. We came across a shoemaker's kiosk, but when we told the woman there that we were American, she spit on the floor, said she hated Reagan. But when Evelyn said that she preferred President Carter, the woman totally melted, and ended up hugging Evelyn. I took a pic, wish I had it on-line. :D

When my grandmother asked me to accompany her to Russia, I thought she was totally insane. I was one of those kids who was taught to sit under the desk in school, waiting for nuclear war. But it really did turn out to be a trip of a lifetime, and the Russians are just like us, want the same things, and welcomed us with open arms. This was a peace group, me and a group of senior citizens, LOL. I just wish I could go back, and someday I will, just not now... *sigh*
