I know what it's like to eat, drink and breathe a candidate and watch them lose, and Hillary's defeat was awful hard on them. I heard the boos, but I heard a lot more cheers.

This was a once-in-a-lifetime campaign; we'll never see two heavyweights go at it like this in a primary season again, and I refer here not to just the candidates. The supporters of both candidates make up the heart of the Democratic Party, and their level of commitment in terms of money, time and energyt exceeded anything that the party has ever seen before. The potential we have is enormous; I thank Hillary for putting the crowd in the right frame of mind, but, even more, I thank those of her supporters who were there who had the wisdom to give full voice to the vision of victory in November.

1. It has been historic
and will continue to be. We're entering a new era in politics here in the US.
