I just realized that Republicans lack the talent and ability to deliver a serious moving speech.
We have been deeply moved by both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama who can talk about issues in a way that is real and moving and touching. Has a single Republican candidate delivered anything close to what we have seen between these two Democratic leaders this year? The last eight years? The last twenty years?

We have true leadership!! Republicans...not so much.

:dem:

1. I think the only republican to ever deliver a truly moving speech was Abe Lincoln.

2. I don't think a Republican has given a good speech since Reagan left the White House
And speeches were pretty much the ONLY thing he was really good at. That and his taste in jelly beans.

19. Yep. With Reagan, it was the delivery, not the content.
He was a much better actor than people give him credit for - and never stopped being one.

6. Democrats truly had great choices this year!
Republicans are pissed. They want their Reagan, they are trying so desperately to make McCain into their Reagan, but they couldn't even spin that pathetic speech from Tuesday.

11. They lack passion because there is no passion in their issues...
...unless, of course, one sits on a board of fortune 500 company, and is passionate about receiving corporate welfare.

20. The right is finding it hard to talk with passion about their cause
when everything they stood for has turned to mud. The Republicans and Conservatives just saw their ideology destroyed even more in a big way yesterday with the release of some of the economic news. Their cultural talking points is the only thing they may have, but hell it is hard to get worked up about same sex marriage when people are worried about their own futures.

12. They lack the foundational philosophy that would support emotive oratory
Unless they are talking about killing people, or letting the poor starve ... THEN they get all self righteously strident ....

You have to have empathy and compassion to deliver speeches with feeling.

25. They play a different game ...

Republicans ARE capable of delivering such speeches. But their message is too swarmy when delivered with eloquence. Hence, they dum down their language and act like boobs ala Bush and Reagan.

26. Actually
If you look at 1980-1992 the GOP was us as far as speeches go.

Even though Reagan sucked ass policy wise he could give a better speech than anyone other than Ted Kennedy and Bush I was a better speaker than Dukakis.
