FauxNews turning on Hillary in a big way - She spent too much time on herself, not enough on Obama.
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 12:30 PM by jefferson_dem
Chris Wallace and Major Garrett are slamming the speech, saying she checked off a few boxes but didn't spend enough time cheerleading for Obama.

What the fuck were they watching?

I guess all that pandering to the phony news network didn't pay off after all.

82. Of course it was mostly about her and her supporters.
She was officially breaking some tough news to them--no matter that they all knew it already. This was their last time together as the Clinton campaign, so Faux can once again go fuck themselves.

I think she did amazingly well.

31. ok, I guess your right . Sorry.
I guess that I'm just interjecting in my perspective, because her "self-congratulation" was framed in such a way to me that she absoluted deserved to congratulate herself. Oh well, so far, most of the people who I have been watching seem to think, as a whole, that the speech was as good as we all think it was!

I'm sorry if you accidentally retransmitted a subtle John McCain commercial. You might as well have drawn a fine baguette with Obama on the wrapper next to a crappy Wonder Bread with McCain on it. As crappy as Wonder Bread is, people become familiar to it and they do absolutely cling to it.

Here is the profile of the artist, so you can retract you(s) statements later:

Clay Bennett
Born January 20, 1958 in Clinton, South Carolina. Growing up the son of a career army officer, he led a nomadic life, attending ten different schools before graduating in 1976 from S. R. Butler High School in Huntsville, Alabama.

Served as editorial cartoonist for his college paper and managing editor of the alternative student newspaper while attending the University of North Alabama. He graduated in 1980 with degrees in Art and History.

Worked as a staff artist for both the Pittsburgh Post- Gazette and The Fayetteville (NC) Times before accepting an editorial cartooning position with the St. Petersburg Times in 1981.

Fired by the Times in 1994, he spent over three years in professional oblivion before being hired as the editorial cartoonist for The Christian Science Monitor.

Since joining the staff of The Monitor in 1998, he has received the John Fischetti Award twice (2001, 2005), the National Headliner Award three times (1999, 2000, 2004), the Sigma Delta Chi Award (2001), the National Journalism Award (2002), the National Cartoonist Society's Award for Editorial Cartoons (2002), the Overseas Press Club Award (2005), the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award (2007), and was named 'Editorial Cartoonist of the Year' by Editor & Publisher magazine (2001). A nominated finalist for the Pulitzer for five consecutive years (1999-2003), he was awarded The Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 2002.

A past president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists, he lives in Boston with his wife Cindy Procious, daughter Sarah, and sons Matt and Ben.

Clay Bennett fires back on Joint Chiefs

Clay Bennett, President of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists, has entered the Tom Toles fray telling the Joint Chiefs of Staff to go back and mind the war instead of cartooning (I’m paraphrasing) and also praised the Washington Post for backing up Tom under such pressure.

Clay Bennett said the Joint Chiefs of Staff have more important things to do than write a letter criticizing a Tom Toles drawing.

“They should be as concerned with the soldiers in the field as they are with a cartoon in The Washington Post,” said Bennett, president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists (AAEC), when reached Thursday by E&P. “Maybe they should provide the body armor soldiers need to help avoid the sort of injury shown in the cartoon.”

More information on Clay Bennett’s decision to leave CSM

By Alan Gardner
November 6, 2007

Dave Astor has interviewed Clay Bennett about yesterday’s announcement that he was leaving the Christian Science Monitor for the Chattanooga Times Free Press. Indeed the pull to return to the south was strong as was the desire to return to a metro paper.

“I’ve had a hankering to get back to a metro paper,” said Bennett, who joins the Times Free Press on Jan. 1 — exactly 10 years to the day he started at the Monitor. “There’s something to having a real constituency you can see.”

In talking with out-going Bruce Plante regarding the Times Free Press, Clay learned that the paper was a positive environment for a cartoonists.

The Monitor cartoonist told E&P that he heard good things about the Times Free Press from Plante, including praise about the “latitude” the paper allows its cartoonist. And given that the paper has two editorial pages (one liberal and one conservative), it would be difficult to “go outside what the newspaper professes” in its opinions, Bennett said wryly.

“My political leanings are more liberal than not, but a lot of cartoons I do don’t take a partisan position,” he said.

Also revealed in the article is Clay’s believe that the CSM will hire a new cartoonist to replace him, and that now that he’ll be leaving the CSM, he’s looking for a new syndicate to distribute his cartoons.

37. Hardly a Surprise
Now that the campaign can turn to the merits of the candidates, who they are and what their platforms entail, this 'news outlet' understands the same thing most RWers do - they have no fucking chance whatsoever this fall. Infighting, division, scandal and huge red herrings were all they had. Now they're left with Grampy. Good luck with that, whackos. Your eight-year run is OVER, and you all know it.

46. Fuck Fox
Fake News.

They are going to start with the "What a great guy McDumbass is!" now.

Every bad think Hillary said about Obama, starting with slum lord and ending with assassination will be played over and over on the noise machine.

It's probably for the better; it was upsetting to see fellow Democrats quoting the faux talking heads.

Well, most of us knew that Faux would turn on Hillary at the end of the primary ... one way or another. Sorry Clinton supporters, Faux was pimping your candidate for nefarious purposes.

How many viewers did they gain because of praise from Ed Rendell, Lanny Davis, Terry McAwful, Howard Wolfson, etc.?

the more they stay the same. Perhaps we should give them till next wednseday at noon, after all, they were holding back on all their best Clinton bashing in hopes of a long fall campaign filled with it.

72. And to imagine, just a few weeks ago the HRC boosters here were praising Terry McAuliffe when he
said FOX news was "fair and balanced." Now they're turning on Senator Clinton, just as I knew they would, and those same HRC boosters are nowhere to be found owning up to their profound delusions regarding FAUX news.

73. Now that there is no longer any chance of her bringing it to..
the convention Faux news is no longer trying to prop her up. There generally favorable coverage of Hillary over the last few months is going to be gone for good. Which kinda sucks for Clinton. It was probably the only time she would get favorable coverage from Fox.

91. It is sort of amusing that Fox disses Hillary after all the pandering, but...
Nobody who cared about choosing either Hillary or Obama was watching Fox. Even independents who were considering would have been interested in either CNN or MSNBC's perspective on this, because it affected the democratic race. Fox's insight on the Dems is strictly geared for those who think Dick Cheney is a good hunter who just had a bad day.

playing patriotic songs about republicans and praising McCain and Bush** and the rest of their slime. It amazes me that people watch their propaganda.
