**************** HIP HIP FOR HILLARY! HIP HIP HURRAH! ******************
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 12:38 PM by Catherina
That was a superb, beautifully delivered speech! I hope Hillary supporters won't take this as an insult because it's MOST certainly not meant that way. I would really like to see Obama create a special, TRAIL-BLAZING position for Hillary where she's in charge of Women's and Children's Affairs.

She brought huge tears to my eyes and I'm proud of her as a woman.

That speech was a keeper and, in this rotten world of impure politics, so is Hillary.

1. It is sad that she didn't run her campaign as expressed in her speech
I suspect results would have been much different

23. Well, it's true.
If she had conducted herself with any of the grace she showed here today, she probably would be the nominee.

If she means what she said today, and is really committed to working closely with and hard for Obama in the coming months, then she can repair the damage that has been done. I have faith in her that she can do it, if she wants to.

7. We have a better chance of moving to the Left with fresh start, DLC-less Obama
but I agree the results would have been MUCH different.

I personally prefer it this way but I don't want our country to throw away the chance of using such a superb woman, despite my political differences with her, in a capacity where the passion, the care, the sincerity she just showed could change the country enormously and the world too.

I eat some damn words of mine. She did it. She turned it around!

6. It's unimaginable. I forgive her everything that happened during these primares
Politically we're still too far but that speech should go down in history books. She did it. She turned it around. She changed her legacy right there and I seriously want someone that passionate, hard-working and determined to head Women and Children's Affairs in the US and have input to them all over the world.

C'mon Obama. Let her blaze that trail. I don't think he could find a better person for such an important task in a world where we've caused so much harm and there's so much ill-will towards us for that.

Can you imagine? THAT woman, the woman we just saw, speaking in official capacity at the UN about such issues? Victimized women and children are my most important issue. I just can't imagine a better advocate than the woman who just spoke.

I think it would also allow Hillary the place in history books ambitious people crave (not a slam, 99% of politicians are ambitions) without putting her in a such a dog eat dog environment where people weigh the political benefits of voting for cluster bombs and she's not given reign to fully be the caring, passionate woman she just showed.

I'd be at her feet.

C'mon Barack. Create a special, trail-blazing post for that passionate, accomplished woman. Women and children all over the world would bless both of you. Sorry but she brought me to tears.

5. Great words, delivered very well. She's Democrat, a party leader
and she proved both of those things today. That speech was as well done as anything I've heard. She didn't stumble, she didn't equivocate.

Imagine how she'll feel when she wakes up tomorrow morning!

10. It's weird. When she first walked out to all that applause
I was HAPPY for her to be getting so much love from her supporters. When she started speaking, she hooked me in. I couldn't believe it. That was masterful.

I hope she wakes up feeling HAPPY tomorrow. As happy as I imagine most Americans must feel. She was great!

8. I went through several tissues, as I watched and listened.
I share your pride in her, as a woman.

I knew she would do the right thing by giving a beautiful, uplifting speech to throw her support behind Obama.

She was gracious and inspirational. :applause:

19. Whatever is next for her on her path, she will undoubtedly continue to
have a profoundly historic influence on this party, regardless of whether she someday becomes President, or not.

I have a lot of respect for her, as a woman, and will be interested to see what she does next.

Onward and upward, Hillary!

I wish her all the best and inner peace as she moves on to the next chapter of her life.

I hope she realizes that just because she may have missed one particular dream, that doesn't mean there isn't a better one around the corner. I am so dead serious about Women's and Children's Affairs. I want her!

26. Exactly right, Catherina.
The timing wasn't right for her now and who knows what the future holds???

Knowing her to be the type of woman she is, her commitment to progressive change for this country will guide her actions and decisions.

I love your idea of Women's and Children's Affairs. Excellent!

27. Do you really? I love it and believe in it. I'm so ashamed of where our country is
both internally and externally. I'd love to see her pushing for it at the UN, from the White House. It's time to change how we approach issues and problems. If you like it, will you please help push it?

Michelle and Barack should send her a very personal token of their appreciation with a warm, personal hand-written note accompanying a huge bouquet of flowers. She was wonderful!

11. The "18 million cracks for Hillary" was a bit unfortunate, but the rest was pure brilliance.
The saddest thing about this campaign is how it obscured how smart and talented she really is. She needed to do what she did today, and she hit it out of the park.

She and Barack have shattered many ceilings.

She should sue Mark Penn and Terry McAuliffe for the atrocious job they did for her. That was totally out of the park.

better "I'm a crack for Hillary" sticker than bitterness.

I wonder, really wonder how the McCain branch is handling this all. Maybe I'll mosey on down to HillaryIs44 to see what a few die-hard trolls are up to. She just whacked them at the knees!

15. it was a fabulous speech, absolutely fabulous
it occurred to me that if she had not run this year, she would have come out for him and made this speech or parts of it on his behalf all along.

a very unifying, moving speech.

I have said before I got whiplash from changing my mind pre primary.

I would have been prepared to work work work for whomever emerged from this campaign as the victor

I think she waited until today to give the speech to just rest her voice and craft the speech. She was borderline voiceless on Monday. She needed to meet privately with Obama. She needed to sleep!!!

33. You've been alot more supportive of her than I have but
today I think I'm just as supportive as you are. She really did me good. I'm still very unhappy about certain political issues/votes but, as a woman, I am proud of her for holding her own even when everyone was piling up to drown her. Oh Hillary, if only you hadn't gotten quite as hawkish. If Hillary can spend the next 8 years working to heal the damage of these wars, of cluster bomb votes, I'll vote for her for President. I don't care how old she'll be.

36. Grantcart discussed that Nightline interview on a post awhile back
The Hillary we saw today was the Hillary of that interview, unscripted, not "handled", really, really good. An entire campaign like that plus voting against IWR would have put her in the White House for sure.
