Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 12:01 PM by Rhiannon12866
My grandmother liked to be early, too, but I tried to tell her that people don't always appreciate that, either...:D

on edit: My Nana used to say "Let's surprise them and be early..." :eyes:

9. Something tells me I'd be on time for a much anticipated, live, national event where I was the main
speaker.

But I was 2 minutes away from missing a flight just the other day. :) Nobody's perfect but this is a bit much, to be honest.

27. I agree. But my SO thinks that she's "classless" because she was late...
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 12:17 PM by Rhiannon12866
But she's saying all the right things, and that's what counts. She wasn't my candidate, but she is my senator, and I've voted for her twice. This is a campaign like no other, at least in my lifetime...:-)

On edit: The last time I rode with my mother, which I try to avoid, we went to a family wake, 20 minutes away, or so, and we left at 5:30, and didn't get there until a quarter to eight... x(

20. My husband will somehow manage to be late for his own funeral.
The man is incapable of being on time, except for work. I have been known to lie to him about the actual time of an event, just to get him there on time. But, that's a secret - don't tell him. ;-)

than either Barak Obama and John Edwards. As a woman, I take her point... But I do sympathize about your sisters. I've cooked Thanksgiving dinner and it's ready when it's ready...:hi:

34. "it's ready when it's ready"
Well, I made a mistake the first year I was married. The wife had to work, and I agreed to cook the turkey, and did it just like I had seen my grandmother do it. I have been cooking them ever since. Oh, and :hi: right back at ya.

25. It Happens to Everyone
but when it happens, you apologize. Did she?
I may have missed it.

Being late can be seen as disrespectful as in
"I didn't think you were important enough to make the
effort to be on time".

In this case, I think it was planned.

28. Actually, Barak Obama was also late to a campaign event in SC.
My friend, who now lives in SC, took time out from work to see him. She couldn't tell her co-workers where she was going, since they're all Republicans there. But he was so late that she had to return to work, feeling disappointed because she missed him. But stuff happens... And Hillary did bring her elderly mother.

38. Hell, ever tried to drive from NW to Union Station?
Even on a Saturday, getting from upper NW to east of union station (and God I love the Building Museum facilities...) is non-trivial. And also consider that the Secret Service has to tow cars on the (unpublished) route. You can't just get in a car and drive, unfortunately.

Edited on Mon Jun-09-08 09:21 PM by Jersey Devil
Then it all works out. In fact, over the years I've tried that with several people I found to be always late. If dinner is 6 pm, just tell him 5 pm and he'll be on time.

Somebody should have told Hillary her speech was at 11 and not 12
