Update from the Texas State Democratic Convention (final delegate count)
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 11:35 AM by crispini
So we're back in session and we have our tabulations.

Clinton PLEO delegates, 11
Obama PLEO delegates 15
Clinton PLEO alternates 2
Obama PLEO alternates 3

Clinton delegates 18, Obama Delegates 24
Clinton alternates 3, Obama Alternates 3

Don't ask me what the difference between these two is -- I don't know either, I knew once and forgot -- I'll try to find out and post it here.

1. Thanks for the update!
Here, our at-large are party activists and PLEO are elected officials.

3. Thanks!
Phew. I can't believe all the work that took. Wow, there was a TON of work that went into those numbers.

Man, it's a great time to be a Democrat in Texas.

4. We had the original numbers at
At-Large -- Clinton: 17 Obama: 20
PLEO -- Clinton:10 Obama:11

Where did the extra 10 delegates come from?

6. Hell if I know
Here's the best detailed info on the delegate selection plan I know:

Maybe you can read it and figure it out. I was up til 3 am and then up again at 7. At this point I have no brains left at all.

5. Texas state senator Leticia Van de Putte just said
in reference to the Clinton-Obama divide:

"You know, after you fight, the makeup sex is GREAT!"

I shit you not.

People all over the hall leaned to each other and said, "I can't believe she just said that."

8. We're cutting over to Hillary now.
I'll going to continue to update here on the convention attendees reactions. They just gave her a standing ovation.

10. It's weird to be watching this in a big crowd on TV.
Even though it's an Obama crowd there is a LOT of support here for the speech. Everyone is being very respectful. Reactions here pretty much mirror those of the crowd there.

13. Interesting moment here
We lost the feed, and the crowd started chanting Obama, Obama, Obama. But it sort of faded out. Some of the crowd chanted Hillary, Hillary, Hillary. Then we settled on, Yes we can, Yes we can, Yes we can. It was a nice moment.

Still no feed here. A few are watching online.

14. We have given up on the feed - DAMNIT.
It sounds like it really was what we needed to here. I am VERY disappointed.

The guy behind me was getting the speech via internet -- I couldn't hear it. He was repeating it to the supporters around him. He just got a BIG CHEER.

Now we're hearing from our State Senators. LOTS of praising of Hillary and lots of calls for unity.

The unofficial Hillary relay behind us just broke up to much applause. Sounds like a good one, I'm sorry I missed.

16. State Senator Royce West is talking about his commission on the caucus process.
We're going to have a lot of discussion about this over the next two year.
