Are those Hillary supporters for real?
Rush Limbaugh and his fleet of liars dominate American talk radio to a staggering extend, but in a very few cities there are progressive options, and I'm one of the maybe 10% of Americans who have a chance to listen to political talk radio that's not always coming from the right-wing. If you listen to Thom Hartmann or Randi Rhodes or Mike Malloy, you'll get some actual honest information from the hosts and guests, and then they take calls...

More and more in the calls, I'm hearing really sheer stupidity from people who identify themselves as "Hillary supporters". They're so heartbroken or angry that Hillary didn't win the Democratic nomination, they're talking about voting for John McCain instead. Can you believe that?

The hosts give these callers time to explain their stupidity, and try to explain in response that (a) despite having a penis, Barack Obama's political opinions aren't very far removed from Hillary Clinton's, and (b) John McCain will continue the current wars, start new wars, sh*t on the economy, and appoint Supreme Court judges who'll eagerly overturn Roe v Wade, leading to backroom abortions that'll kill Americans' daughters along with the wars to kill Americans' sons.

I've heard dozens of these calls from Hillary supporters, and they don't sound like the Hillary supporters I know in real life. Real-life Hillary supporters are disappointed but they're not retarded, they're not going to vote for insanity and senility just because they can't have their Hillary. But still the calls continue, "I'm voting for McCain," "I'm voting for McCain," and the flurry is if anything picking up.

I want to second what Chris M. said on Tuesday and what Helen & Harry said on Monday. A significant subset of Hillary's supporters "don't know much about politics and really don't care much about politics -- they know Hillary Clinton's a woman, and that's enough to convince them she's the very best candidate there ever was."

**Snip***

These Hillary supporters all hate Barack Obama but not a one of them can ever come up with a reasonable reason why. They're gullible as hell, politics don't really matter to them, they say they're voting for McCain and I think they'd vote for Adolph Hitler if he was running against Obama. Seriously, dumber than sticks.

Is there any way to reach these people, or are they seriously going to cast suicide ballots?

Better off using our energy to register new voters.
for every one jerkoff like that, there's dozens of decent people who can be reached.

4. Maybe the wounds will heal...I know that if HRC had
"won" the nomination, I'd have seen it as being stolen using back room deals. I don't know if I could have held my nose to vote for her. I am being honest as I think those Hillary supporters are being honest.

I would not have voted for McCain but I don't know if come November I could have voted for another Clinton.

5. From OP's own link: "I'm pretty sure they're fakes."
"But I'm not convinced that most of these alleged Hillary supporters really are Hillary supporters. I'm pretty sure they're fakes. Read this item at WikiLeaks, http://secure.wikileaks.org/wiki/John_McCain_US_Presidential_election_Clinton_strategy about McCain campaign dirty tricks aimed at Hillary supporters, and tell me it isn't absolutely plausible."

8. It's all a performance. The callers are radio equivalents of concern trolls. Limpballs thinks this
will sway Hill supporters. By November, when they get to the booth, they will vote Dem down the line.

Your intent isn't to win anyone over, but to keep people divided. Stop it.

10. These people are out there
and the OP is reporting what we can hear with our own ears. I listen to these people too. I don't believe they can be won over, at least most of them. The good thing is that I believe they are a small minority, which can easily be overcome on election day by new, young voters.

11. Oh that is just so much rubbish....................
How can you seriously believe these are Hillary supporters. This is a concerted effort by the RW to undermine the Democratic Party effort to take over the WH. Any repug operative can call a talk show and say they are a disillusioned Hillary supporter. I am/was a Hillary supporter. I will vote for Obama. Any TRUE Democrat would not vote for the continuation of the Bush tyranny. They would just not vote, which is almost as bad. Please, please, please can't you see this is just the repugs continuing to drive a wedge in the Dem party. I would have been pleased and excited to have had the first female president. But I am excited that we will have the first AA president.

13. I essentially agree with you. Sure their may be a few people who voted for Hillary
who might not vote, but 99% realize what the stakes are.

What is being bandered about is that people will vote against their own interest and self-destruction, and I don't buy it

The differences between the two parties, and candidates are so obvious

12. Any Clinton supporter who will vote for mccain over the Obama, was not voting on the issues
It is that mentality why we are in the situation we are in today

Frankly, those people do not care about gender rights, civil rights, the Iraq War, the environment, jobs, high energy and food prices, the economy, social security, medicare, and so many other issues that the Democratic party stood for

I have no idea who those people are, but they are not rational people, and frankly they need professional help if they are that vindictive that they would vote against their own interest, and for their self-destruction

14. They really discredit Hillary...
I have heard some of these people on the radio as well...What struck me, is that they actually put a lot of discredit on Hillary. If a Hillary supporter is ready to vote for mcCain, or would rather not vote than vote for Obama, they are projecting a picture of their candidate that very much resembles GW Bush...full of hate and resentment, manipulative and totally devoid of political integrity.

I am not a Hillary supporter (I cannot swallow her hawkishness), but I do believe that she is better than this, and she deserves more respect from her so called "supporters". If she is really the way they make her seem, then she should not even be a Senator!
But I don't believe this is the case. If these people are sincere supporters, which I doubt, they should see how much they harm her...

18. She has a group of supporters who are obsessed with her, they are not obsessed with her policies
they have rather simplistic and short (word count) rhetoric. This is why the Hillary website issued talking points for Hillary protestors at the Bylaws meeting. They were instructed not to say they just love Hillary so much, but to focus on Count the Votes & keep the issue about disenfranchisement.

IMHO these are the Sex & The City type female voters. If you doubt that any gender could be so superficial consider this]]

I question whether they even voted in 2004 or 2000
