65. She took a little flak about that comment
I think that someone complimented Michelle on her outfit at a rally and she joked about how she likes good accessories like her husband, or something like that. Right-wingers tried their best to spin it in a bad way.

Swoon? I don't get why some people think she's so beautiful. She's no Halle Berry. Jackie Kennedy was a hot first lady. If beauty was what he cared about, then Obama could've done better. *duck*

12. Well I've never seen another First Lady touted for beauty
since Jackie Kennedy. Her looks have no bearing at all on what I think of her, because she's not supposed to be a pin-up doll. She's smart and helps Barack be the man he is. I don't remember anyone talking about Laura Bush or Hillary Clinton in the same way. And certainly not Barbara Bush, although she had white hair when Poppy Bush was running. But I don't think I'm in the small minority, and who cares? No big deal.

So Beauregard, please take your superficial "all pretty black women should resemble Halle Berry" :wtf: prejudices elsewhere?

16. Superficial is irrelevant when the conversation is about beauty
I figured someone might insinuate that race had something to do with it. Are you saying that if I say Michelle is not beautiful, then I don't think black women are beautiful? The black women I've dated would probably disagree, and they didn't look like her. Or are you saying that liking Michelle's looks is not superficial but not liking them is?

Halle Berry came to mind because I saw "The things we lost in the fire" recently. How about she's no Tyra Banks, Jennifer Hudson, Jada Pinkett Smith, or Aisha Tyler. I just don't get the "she's so amazingly beautiful" theme advanced here, but I knew somebody would get offended if I disagreed with it (and I didn't call her ugly, she's not).

focus on her man and children, her smarts, the way she wears her clothes, all of it together makes her beautiful. Anyone who just believes the physical makes you beautiful is in need of edumacation.

42. Eleanor Roosevelt was the greatest first lady ever, and girlfriend was
ungainly and ugly as sin. Michelle and Barrack appear to be definite soul mates, and I would bet she is very beautiful to him.

Personally, I think she's attractive, but no raving beauty. Her beauty is her strength, intelligence and personality.

45. Jackie Kennedy was not a conventional beauty, either. But she
was definitely pretty. Her style, grace and intelligence combined with being very attractive, made her gorgeous.

It's the same with Michelle. Her features are not "perfect" like some actress or model. But her sense of style, her incredible intelligence, and her feisty personality combined with the fact that she is very attractive, make her gorgeous, too.

27. She's not "model/movie star" gorgeous, but she is attractive and striking
and is a statuesque woman who carries herself well, dresses smartly and looks like a million bucks..

Not everyone is , can be or wants to look like Halle Berry or anyone else..

Michelle is comfortable in her own skin, and her husband loves the way she looks.. That's all that matters..

She will definitely be a real change from the permanently upholstered first lady we have currently ..

Forgive me for saying this but the last one I can think of was Jacquelin Kennedy. (Forgive me Roselyn) Fwiw: This will mark the first in my lifetime a Presidency by someone younger than I!!!

And you bring up a good point. Talk about candidates making important decisions on a running mate. His decisions about his home and family life have all been exceptional. When was the last time we had a family this normal and wholesome in the WhiteHouse.

Before you answer that you have to go back quite a while.

like the middle aged woman she was, with no pretense! It was refreshing. Wanna talk feminist issues? Babs had it big time. "Here I am, world. Take me as I am. No cosmetic surgery, no dyed coif, no professional makeup job. I have more important things to think about."

She's one terrific lady. She has said some stupid things, but she's not a politician. She's "the spouse." Hence, my efforts not to focus on Michelle, as great as she is, or she'll be targeted for stupid comments, which she will make....because she is not a politician.

I have other more descriptive words for her as well as pretty - attractive, dignified, trustworthy, polite, sense of humor, honest, sexy, kind, tasteful, courageous, loyal, helpful, supportive, humble, a bit shy, sensitive, and she will bravely stand up to criticism. And she obviously loves the Presidential nominee.

I know that I trust her to represent me anywhere in the world as well as in the White House.

Very nice picture - the photographer captured the qualities above.
