Gotta love Charlie Rangel....
“Love and affection doesn’t have a damn thing to do with counting votes.”

“We pledged to support her to the end. Our problem is not being able to determine when the hell the end is.”

“Unless she has some good reasons — which I can’t think of — I really think we ought to get on with endorsements (of Obama) and dealing with what we have to deal with … so we can move forward.”

And this old chestnut, which has nothing to do with the candidates, but is funny: “Who the hell wants to live in Mississippi?”

1. Rangel has a great sense of humor ---
loved his comments about Bush's intelligence ---

Bush being a clear example that white supremacy is a myth ---

you get the idea, but the way he put it and delivered it was actually funny!

3. Can you imagine Charlie and Al Sharpton just sitting around chatting,
cameras either on or off, doesn't matter. Two very funny, downright honest people....I'd pay to be there.

4. Charlie Rangel was hemming and hawing on MSNBC at 1 pm Wednesday
I like him because he says what he is really thinking even when it is something I'd rather not deal with.

He looked so ashen, hurt and bewildered that I felt bad for him and other CBC members. It is obvious to me that they have made a hard decision and their constituencies are going to want a head check because of the racial tinge to the primary. There are few things AAs will not forgive as a whole, but it has been demonstrated over and over again that not speaking up and speaking out against obvious racist rants or disgust over race is ONE BIG ONE. The second capital offense is defending the one spewer and acting as if it never happened.

I want more than anything to say the backlash will be quiet and dignified like that animosity for Colin Powell (not as much overt sentiment) and Condoleeza Rice. But I fear they may get a widespread Clarence Thomas reception in their districts. The worst problem of all is the ridicule could reach unparalleled proportions.

The thing I like most about Rangel is he can handle it. It will meet the criticism with a wry wit and sensibility. It is Stephanie Tubb Jones I worry most about.

11. Yeah, ya do..and you gotta love Alma Rangel, too..
"On Michelle Obama’s Guest List: Alma Rangel"
By Sewell Chan

"Updated, 5:10 p.m. | Michelle Obama spoke this afternoon at a fund-raising lunch on the Upper East Side for her husband’s presidential campaign, and one of the more prominent people present was Alma Rangel, the wife of Representative Charles B. Rangel, according to a person familiar with the guest list for the event. Mr. Rangel has been a leading supporter of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, so his wife’s attendance at a fund-raiser for Senator Barack Obama, Mrs. Clinton’s chief rival, seems noteworthy."

<Ed Bradley widow, Patricia Blanchet, a Haitian-born artist was there, too>
