The selection of VP for both nominees will be the most important decision of their presidency.
Remember McCain has the advantage, their convention follows our convention.

Obama will take a hit to his base no matter who he picks unless he goes outside the party. IMO, he needs a well know person who is known for his economic insights and ability to get things done.

McCain needs a person to give people a comfort level that if his health problems catch up with him, the VP will be ready to take over.

The nominee that makes the wrong pick will lose.

1. The Veep picks this year will be more important than ever before.
They each have areas the need cover. I think they will both announce before the Conventions. I expect Obama to get out in front, even.

2. I hope he doesn't rush it, the end of Aug will be a better indicator of the economic
conditions he will face in Nov.

I still believe the last 20 days before the Nov GE is when people will make their decision.

4. I don't think so...not now. The debates are going to show a vibrant intellect against
a crotchety character who bristles easily when questioned sharply.

And the McClellan book has made it more difficult for press to carry water for McCain to the degree they did for Bush the last 8 years.
