Can Mr. Obama save us?
During the great depression there was a feeling that "Mr. Roosevelt was going to save to country". People from all party's put their faith in him because he offered them a new deal and hope.

Can Obama create the same coalition across America? I'm only 26, but things are getting real bad out here in the real world.

What will Obama offer, regarding the economy, that will make people in West VA (for example) put their faith in him, that he will be the one that will pull the country out this rut?

or has Bush pushed us over the brink?

1. NO. "We are the change we are looking for..."
Obama can lead the way to citizens taking control of their government again, but no, he cannot save us. Only we can do that.

2. President Bush
Spent his 8 years trying to dismantle the New Deal and Great Society. Luckily his attempt at undoing Social Security failed.

Mr. Obama can't save us he can however put us on the right path again.

4. Interesting take, which speaks to my central question
Is eight years enough and/or will Obama be the type of President that can work miracles when eight years shouldn't be enough.

Depends
If he has a progressive congress for 8 years it will be more than enough.

9. You are so right.
The shrub administration is not over till Jan. 2009...

NSPD-51 is still open and ready to be implemented. Here in Texas, HS has stepped up stupid check points for ID and that shit makes me nervous.

Peace and remain vigilant.

5. Its up to the people, not a president....
as a group, we could have stopped this illegal administration, but refused to get up off the couch and do so. And I am just as guilty as the majority. There are a few out there who are concerned enough to actually do something, but not nearly enough. Can BO inspire us to do better? I believe so, but it is still up to us.

And that's the key.

7. But how do we save ourselves from 5 dollar a gallon gas and a 5.5% unemployment rate
These are things that a President can effect. Hell, we've blamed Bush for it for the last eight years (rightfully so in my opinion).
