It strikes me as timed to avoid the news cycle. I'm trying to think of a good reason for doing that, and I can't.

4. Why does she need a huge turn-out? I don't get it.
And I thought she was speaking at some museum where a large crowd can't fit anyway.

5. Today is the anniversary
of RFK's assassination. Probably not a good day for Hillary to make a speech. Yesterday she met privately with Obama, today she meets with her supporters and tomorrow she'll make a public statement.

Giving her a few days to regroup was fine by me. I think she and her family and supporters needed a bit of time to let the adrenalin wear off.

It's all good.

7. I would much rather get an explanation as to why Bushco was never
ousted out of office, would like to know why impeachment was off the table from day one, would like to know why this criminal administration still exists today and continues to wreak havoc upon not only this nation but others as well, why they have not been tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity as they continue to torture any and all they so choose? Thats just me, I would like questions to those answers plus so many more involving this administration...

8. It needs to be done soon, but there has to be some planning for the event.
Today isn't good because it is the 40th Anniversary of RFK's death, which isn't a good time for a media event, especially given the controversary over the slip/gaffe/whatever Senator Clinton made a short while back. This will allow Obama the weekend with Michelle and the girls, and come Monday morning, watch out!!! I don't think it is such a conspiracy as it is expediant. And, it is hard to be forced to pass the torch when one isn't ready. She has lost what most thought ineviabable. There is no need to a public humiliation. I am sure Obama is fine with this. In fact, if I were him, I would prefer it this way. He is about bringing together, not breaking people further apart.

19. I'd think she would want to choose her date to maximize her influence in support
the democratic nominee.

I guess I can live with not doing it on Friday out of respect for the RFK assassination anniversary.

But, no, I don't think it's just her own business. I think she should do what's best for the party and the country.

15. On the whole, it seems like a good choice.
Time to plan logistics, to avoid the RFK anniversary, to avoid the wrong kind of press both for Clinton AND for Obama. She doesn't need to look like she's trying to steal the limelight and his campaign doesn't need to look marginalized.

I hope the event goes well for her and for her people.

22. I don't hate her. I used to admire her. At the moment, I'm disappointed in her, but I'd like to
give her the benefit of the doubt if I can understand why she's doing what she's doing. Someone here explained that it's probably to avoid the anniversary of the RFK assassination, which restores my faith in her a bit.

21. Maybe to give her supporters time to mourn?
I'm not trying to be rude or sarcastic, and if you take offense, sorry.

But...

For whatever reason (and there are many), for some people, Hillary's run for the nomination was more than that. It became a symbol for something else; exactly what depends on the person. These people invested quite a bit emotionally and spiritually to getting her to win. Now that the dream is shattered, they need a little time to cope.

This has been a hard fought campaign on both sides. Another day or two will not make any difference in November.

40. Wrong.
If she had announced it before or on the RFK anniversary, there are people who would have screamed that she was trying to take away from this important anniversary and make it all about her.

Just relax. She'll give a wonderful concession speech tomorrow and it will focus on Obama and supporting him as well as thanking her supporters.

36. Maybe she would like her supporters to all be able to attend.
It is better than having it on a work day. She put it four days after Obama's win to let people and the media focus on that rather than her. She is not an idiot and it does not make any sense to think she is avoiding the news cycle. Like that is ever going to happen. It does not matter what day she does it on, the media will be focusing on her. That and she is not conceding, in that sense of the word. It is a suspension so that loose ends can be wrapped up monetarily for the campaign. I hope this explains things a bit for you. You were right....There is no reason to think that she has hidden ulterior motives for having this on Saturday.
