Edited on Fri Jun-06-08 10:16 AM by george_maniakes
I find its just a little too rabid. I'd prefer a more mr. magoo type comparison, feels more lighthearted. I just think it would be nice if somehow this election the two candidates and supporters were more respectful. as in more "pro obama/mccain" and less "anti obama/mccain".

1. No...it's true.
He's a hothead and a crazy person, just like his predecessor. In many ways he's even worse because he's allowing himself to be used and made a laughingstock of the repukes.

10. Destroy McCain? I prefer to think of it as informing the public
since the M$M sure as hell won't do it.

for quite some time its more than obvious and considering what dangers are facing our country right now it should not be ignored IMHO

9. nuts?
I really haven't seen that. I've seen him rightly being characterized as old, slow, hot-tempered, pre-Alzheimer's, right-wing, conservative, and bush-supporting. But not nuts. Perhaps this was simply a short-hand reply by some posters? Sort of like, "oh, he's just nuts"?

17. Do you chastise individual posters when you see it?
If you feel strongly about this, I'd recommend it. It's a more targeted and personal approach to changing someone's behavior.

21. Coot is a mostly Southern term for a drunk
Coot is shortened from the phrase "drunker than Cooter Brown". The legend is that Cooter Brown lived at the edge of the Mason Dixon line when the civil war broke out. He had relatives in both the Union and Confederate armies. To keep from having to take sides, he stayed drunk during the entire war to avoid service.

Cooter is also a southern slang for a turtle.

Just had to mention this since I was curious about where the phrase came from when someone used it the other day and searched for its origins in Google.

20. I prefer "batshit crazy". Funny you should use Mr. Magoo....
from wikipedia:

Quincy Magoo is a wealthy, short-statured retiree who gets into a series of sticky situations as a result of his nearsightedness, or latent myopia, compounded by his stubborn refusal to admit the problem. Affected people (or animals) consequently tend to think that he is a lunatic, rather than just being nearsighted.

22. The OP is right -- it is COUNTERstrategic to hyperbolize
The goal is to find those issues and approaches that get the nonvoters to vote (Obama) and get the wavering to support the Democrats. If someone is WAVERING they obviously don't consider McCain INSANE ...

25. Destroy the man's credibility by any means necessary. He hasn't demonstrated that he's sane.
It worked for bush. It's a tried and true method of dealing with the man. I watched mcsame on a video last night that showed his dark side as he was being interviewed on a plane just yesterday, and he has some serious problems, let me tell you.

28. I'm quite the opposite
Seems to me that the magoo thing is sort of ageist. While I find that humorous, I feel I shouldn't. The "crazy" mantra seems to have more fairness too it. I do think he's crazy for wanting to occupy Iraq. I do think he's crazy to never have dialogs with enemies. I do think he's crazy.

30. i think people can agree with obama that mccains ideas in those areas are wrong...
without believing mccain is nuts. Like someone here said, the types of people that will believe mccain is nuts arent the type of people you need to convince to vote obama.

29. Yes. Anyone who thinks "Bomb bomb Iran" is funny is clearly insane.
Why should we pussyfoot around when there's the chance that a complete nut-bag could be commander in chief? Seems like we'd have learned something these last 7 years.
