I mean no disrespect by that quote, what I mean is, I think Barack should come out and say that Hillary won't not on the ticket NOW, of course some of her supporters will be really upset, but in the long run I think it is a better move.

If he waits until the end of the summer to do it, there will be expectations, then a huge let down, with only weeks to get over the shock.

By ending the speculation now, it gives the Democrats a finality, and the chance to look forward to a clean slate.

1. As Barney Fife used to say "Nip it in the bud"?
I'd guess that it will all be cleared up by tomorrow.

2. Nope, not unless he has already decided on a candidate
I think he is hoping mccain chooses first, but that probably won't happen

5. I am not saying that he should announce his VP choice
all I am saying is that he should say it's not going to be Sen. Clinton. :hi:

10. That is a tough call. I understand your point. You want to get any bad effects from it over
However, I think at a minimum she needs to offically concede the election first

I think letting it sit a little while longer won't hurt either, and you never know, he may come to an agreement with Clinton, that SHE will be the one to announce that she won't be vice president

12. I completely agree, he shouldn't do anything
before she concedes. Hmmm, I wonder if that is why she hasn't conceded? What a chess game this is...

4. Not quite yet.
Coordination with her will, I think, lead to such a statement in a week or 10 days.

Without her inclusion in making that announcement, the risk of the statement is worse than letting it hang.

Maybe they will have a specific cabinet position or other roll laid out for her as a way of softening the blow to her and her supporters.

But I agree with the OP that letting it remain open for very long is not a good thing.

8. 10 days seems like a reasonable period of time,

I just don't want the next few months, (when we should be concentrating on clobbering McCain) to be a media frenzy over Hillary on the ticket. It's all I hear on the airwaves, and frankly I am really tired of the Clintons at this point. They need to get on the train and work for towards getting a Dem in the White House, and leave their baggage at the door.

It's NOT ABOUT THEM anymore. Although the media still thinks it is.

edit: typos

6. Obama said it would be at the time of his choosing and not before...
His timing has been pretty awesome so far, IMO, so not saying anything is fine. It also could mean that he intends to have her as his VP.

We just don't know and speculating is really useless...but fun sometimes, too.

7. Nope. He should focus on acting, not reacting.

EVERY poltician wants attention - one more than most. Me! Me! Me! Every pundit wants to pull his chain and count coup. He should listen, nod, and keep on truckin'.

Every time someone speculates, he gets press ... and it's not bad press. That's good.
If he reacts, the judgmental assholes swarm like flies. No reaction. Action.
