She lost me at "slumlord".
For many many years I strongly defended Hillary Clinton.

Then came this primary campaign.

Now, I have only contempt left for her.

1. It was a regrettable campaign
I'm sure she will have many occasion to rethink the whole thing. She took a wrong turn somewhere around 2003.

when it's Clinton and her supporters who have decided that the rules don't actually apply to her because she's just that wonderful (See Michigan and Florida, delegates, etc) and even after losing... she still claims to be winning.

I could see calling Obama smug (I would be too, in his position) but "Arrogant" applies to Clinton. Remember, inevitability? it's her turn? Has it in the bag? No need to plan after super tuesday?

part of the hate campaign. It demonstrates that Barack Obama is a bad person who has brought out the worst in American.

Oh well...at least if he wins he can save the Supreme Court. Let's just hope that whatever Democrat defeats him in the 2012 primaries is able to defeat Mitt Romney.

The Daily Show had a brilliant montage of news clips from 2007.

How does that translate into a "hate campaign" against HRC?

Besides, Bill's stupid zipper mishap in the Oval Office is still having lingering effects. 1998 - Present.

It's actually a bigger deal than Rezko, IMO. We lost Congress because of it. And Gore lost votes in 2000 because he didn't dare associate himself with Bill and millions fell for the "return honor and integrity to the White House" nonsense.

But Obama didn't bring it up.

Obama has surrounded himself with dubious characters for years now, nothing new. The Republicans are going to have a field day reminding the nation of his association with these people.

34. How much "defending" did Obama do of him, as Clinton accused Obama of doing?
I thought the Wal-Mart jab at least lacked the air of slander, but saying that somebody was actively defending a slumlord had a slightly different aroma.

Arguments can be made that people who broker in, and develop, low-income housing are slumlords, certainly. That would be a matter of opinion.

Arguments can also be made that Wal-Mart is destroying America, and Obama didn't go there. He simply stated a fact. She replied with a character slam, that in retrospect, turned out to be a mis-representation of the facts.

36. P.S.: The link you pointed to obviously lacks editorial oversight, in some way.
What's up with the double paragraphs in the link?

22. She lost me with IWR
in 2002. Did I support Kerry? Yes, but only when the choice was him or Bush.

Would I have supported Hillary? Likely so, but only when it came down to a choice between her and McSame. This, fortunately, is a hurdle I will not have to try to clear.

Geraldine Ferraro: Sweatshop Landlord
Long Hours, Low Pay, Rancid Conditions Are Commonplace at Senate Candidate's Building
by Wayne Barrett & Tracie McMillan
March 10th, 1998 12:00 AM

A SOHO building partially owned by U.S. Senate candidate Geraldine Ferraro and managed by her husband, John Zaccaro, has housed 35 Chinese garment-manufacturing companies over the past few years--many of them nonunion and some apparently illegal.
While an attorney for the current tenants insists they are not sweatshops, a Voice investigation has uncovered an array of conditions identified with sweatshops: piecework pay; 15-hour days; seven-day work weeks; boarded-up windows; blocked exits; crowded, filthy facilities; gut-wrenching fumes; and fly-by-night corporate shells.

Many of these conditions were observed during a half-dozen Voice visits to the premises, one of which was made by experienced garment workers who are both fluent in Chinese and connected to a labor organization. As another indicator of the kinds of shops that have tenanted the building, UNITE, the merged union that represents most garment workers, says that 21 of the 35 businesses listed in phone or other records there have not been represented by it or its predecessor unions, the International Ladies Garment Workers or the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers.

Revelations that a mob-tied pornography company occupied much of the same building undermined Ferraro's vice-presidential candidacy in 1984 and her last Senate race in 1992. That space is now filled with garment manufacturers.

81. I wouldn't say slumlord. I'd say sweatshop owner.
Your point is made, though. That's just as bad as refusing to heat buildings you rent.

I don't like Ferraro anyway, though.

71. Rezko IS a slumlord.
What's the problem? Besides, he's the one who shot the first salvo in that debate by bringing up Wal-Mart. She only responded to him in kind.

77. Also, he's biggest donor until his presidential run.
Another guy who he now claims to not have known well enough. He just threw him under the bus yesterday. That undercarriage must be getting crowded with Wright, Pfleger and Rezko vying for space.

Got to get that distance and pretend for all he never really had any close dealings with the crook for years. :)
