Clinton asks her donors to support Obama during conference call
On a Thursday afternoon conference call with top donors to her campaign, Sen. Hillary Clinton pledged "total support for Barack Obama," according to one participant on the call who spoke to the Huffington Post. Alan Patricof, a key Clinton fundraiser--as well as an investor in the Huffington Post--also said there was "absolutely no mention" of a possible vice presidential slot during the conversation, which was moderated by campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe.

"She was terrific," Patricof said. "She told everyone she was 100 percent supportive of Barack Obama and the DNC. She said she wanted everyone on the phone to be supportive -- and said she herself intends to do events on behalf of the nominee and the party. ... She was real upbeat, there wasn't the slightest bit of remorse or recriminations. It was all totally positive, looking forward. I was very impressed, and admired her for that."

Patricof said that while there was no vice presidential speculation, the New York Democrat said she would make herself available for in-person events alongside Obama, and told her donors she hoped they would organize events on his behalf as well.

1. Good for her
It seems like she's slowly giving the green light to the party. It's amazing how people have stayed loyal and waited for her cue.

and more than once.

Her behavior has caused most of her problems here - for instance her speech when Obama blew past the required number of delegates to secure the nomination - appalling.

And her supporters beat the crap out of anyone who had the temerity to suggest she was not perfect early in the campaign (back when she was positing herself as "inevitable")

10. I disagree--historically, every other candidate in a race this close has taken it to the convention
She had the right to do so and she is leaving the race at an point which is early to an unprecedented degree. She has placed party unity AHEAD of her personal ambition.

But Obama supporters just want to keep delivering their hateful narrative under the auspices of "history is written by the winners!"

This kind of arrogance is the face of a losing GE campaign.

18. Why don't you ask the Obamites to start showing some respect and chastise them for their
divisive comments?

Including the ones in this very thread.

21. Why don't you stop using the word "Obamites"?
Otherwise your request seems a bit hypocritical.

5. This is great news! Obama and Clinton are coming together, which in turn should bring their
supporters together. I wish I could give Senator Clinton a hug right now. A lot of people may have been very wrong about her. A fellow Obama supporter posted on a local blog that she donated to the Clinton campaign to help her pay down her debt, and I like that idea myself!

11. Shouldn't this be the kind of post that makes it to the greatest page and gets 600 recs?
Instead of all the divisive garbage?

Or not enough "dap" in it, LOL?

16. You probably should have titled it:
"Clinton on conference call hatches secret plot to steal Obama's children"

There would be throngs of recommendations. :)

14. I knew they would keep it positive
she was just stunned for a bit. There is nothing to gain by being bitter, either side. We're all on the same side now. Obama supporters need to get over it too. It's politics.
