Lobbyist ban is not applied across the Democratic party
I thought it sounded too good to be true. Why not just stop taking all dirty money?

Obama's ban on lobbyists money is not ironclad. He does accept money from lobbyists who do not do business with the federal government and he also accepts money from spouses and family members of lobbyists. He has had unpaid advisers with federal lobbying clients, and some campaign officials also previously had lobbying jobs.

The Obama campaign confirms that two other arms of the national party - the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee - will continue to accept lobby and PAC money this election. That's the same position as presumptive Republican nominee John McCain and every affiliate of the Republican National Committee, who all accept lobby and PAC dollars.

The DCCC and DSCC help support Democratic House and Senate candidates in targeted seats. Unlike the DNC - which trails its Republican counterpart 2 to 1 - they're thumping the GOP's congressional candidates in fundraising. They've combined to raise nearly $170 million for this election cycle through May, versus about $120 million for Republicans.

That money will go for ads, field workers and other campaign resources to boost congressional candidates; because of disclosure rules, the candidates can see exactly who their committee's biggest backers are.

1. Obama does not control the DCCC or DSCC
He can't make them stop taking lobbyist money. And I agree about the spouses, but I don't think accepting money from state lobbyists is as much of an issue now that he is a federal legislator. The idea is to avoid conflicts of interest by banning donations from people who might lobby him as president or as a senator.

4. First, Obama doesn't control the DCCC or DSCC. Second,
what conflict of interest would exist by taking money from a state-legislature lobbyist?

6. So are you for or against lobbyists?
You seem to be arguing both sides.
Obama is doing what he can, where he can.
Once he's in I'm sure he would try to make that a wide spread policy.

I removed myself from the DCCC and DSCC mailing lists. Why would I give money to elect a DLCer from CA when I live in MD and have a GOPer and a POS to flush out of my own back yard?
